ABSTRACT The increasing penetration of distributed energy resources (DERs)—including photovoltaics, wind turbines, and battery storage systems—poses challenges for modern power distribution systems, particularly in scenarios with high DERs outside the monitoring capabilities utilities. Addressing invisible operational planning studies requires innovative modeling methodologies, often involving aggregated models. This paper proposes a mixed‐integer linear programming (MILP) formulation to locate size aggregate hybrid DER models radial systems by minimizing residuals estimates existing field measurements. These equivalent grasp collective effect many enable reconstruction unobserved bus voltages branch flows, enhancing system visibility. Case demonstrate average errors below 5% estimation flows limited voltage magnitude OpenDSS is employed showcase computational efficiency accuracy proposed method, also under unbalanced loading conditions.
