Summary This paper investigates an observer‐based optimal fault‐tolerant tracking control problem for interconnected nonlinear systems with input constraints and mismatched disturbances via adaptive dynamic programming (ADP). Firstly, augmented system consisting of error the reference trajectory is constructed, then original transformed into regulation system. An integral sliding‐mode‐based scheme developed to eliminate effect actuator faults guarantee performance. Furthermore, a neural network‐based observer designed identify completely unknown dynamics based on input‐output data, thereby relaxing restriction dynamics. Subsequently, modified Hamilton‐Jacobi‐Bellman equations are solved by using ADP algorithm under critic network framework. According Lyapunov approach, all signals in closed‐loop uniformly ultimately bounded. Finally, effectiveness demonstrated simulation results.

Abstract In this article, the issue of adaptive control for switched underactuated systems subject to input delay and unmodeled dynamics is investigated. Unlike traditional backstepping methods, paper introduces a hierarchical sliding mode (HSMC) approach that can improve response rate robustness controlled plant. Under framework method, top surface (HSMS) containing all information state variables an effective controller consisting switching laws equivalent are constructed. design process, auxiliary system hyperbolic tangent function introduced compensate impact while avoiding singularity problems. addition, dynamic signal designed effect dynamics. The ensure signals closed‐loop system, including states bounded. Finally, benefits proposed HSMC confirmed by two simulation examples.
