Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) imaging is used for quantitative assessment of muscle mass and function in elderly with sarcopenia. However, the differences EIT-derived parameters between patients without sarcopenia correlation scores are unclear. Thirty-one sarcopenic healthy subjects were recruited this work, maximal handgrip strength (MHG), isometric voluntary contraction (MVC), SARC-F scale all individuals scoring. The electrical conductivity global values gastrocnemius calculated by EIT, then was analyzed. results showed that mean amplitude ordered young (0.0041) > (0.0034) (0.0029) group, while opposite. In addition, a strong positive (r=0.619, p<0.001), moderate negative (r=-0.469, p<0.05). demonstrate potential EIT technology diagnosis function. future, we will expand number subjects, determine independent influencing factors related to sarcopenia, construct an accurate functional model.

Local muscle quality imaging in human calf by phase angle electrical impedance tomography (ΦEIT) has been proposed to monitor the local aging (MA), fat infiltration (FI), and cross-sectional area (CSA) for daily monitoring of quality. The MA is assessed calf-specialized Jacobian matrix Φ J, FI estimated distribution Φ M , high-intensity binarization predicts CSA (Φ ). Abstract Objectives . Phase angle muscle imaging has been proposed by phase electrical impedance tomography (ΦEIT) under stimulation (EMS) for long-term monitoring of quality improvement, especially focusing on calf muscles. Approach In the experiments, twenty-four subjects are randomly assigned either to three groups: control group (CG, n = 8), low voltage intensity EMS training (LG, and optimal (OG, 8). Main results From experimental results, distribution images Ф cleared reconstructed ФEIT as four compartments over five weeks which called M 1 composed gastrocnemius muscle, 2 soleus 3 tibialis-posterior flexor digitorum longus pollicis 4 compartment tibialis anterior extensor peroneus muscle. is inversely correlated with age, namely decreases increasing age. A paired samples t -test was conducted elucidate statistical significance spatial-mean in all domain < > Ω each reference conventional bioelectrical analysis, grey-scale G ultrasound, maximal dynamic strength S Max one-repetition maximum test. Significance have good correlation OG, W5 , ( ) were significantly higher than first week 8, p 0.05). significant increase both observed after LG OG groups. Only shows a weeks. However, no changes group. conclusion, satisfactorily monitors response training.
