Two novel extended depth-of-focus intraocular lenses targeted for mini-monovision: a prospective randomized controlled trial

To compare the visual outcomes of two extended depth-of-focus (EDOF) intraocular lenses (IOLs). Single-center prospective randomized controlled trial. Patients undergoing bilateral cataract surgery were randomly assigned to receive either Acunex Vario IOL (Teleon Surgical B.V., Spankeren, The Netherlands) or AcrySof IQ Vivity (Alcon, Geneva, Switzerland); both Vario- and Vivity-group targeted for mini-monovision. primary outcome was uncorrected intermediate acuity (UIVA, measured at 66cm). Secondary parameters distance (UDVA), near (UNVA), defocus curves, reading speed, contrast sensitivity, spectacle independence quality vision. Preliminary Visual Outcomes of a Novel Non-Diffractive Extended Monofocal Intraocular Lens (Evolux) 3 Months After Cataract Surgery

Background: This study aims to evaluate the visual performance, both quantitative and qualitative, of novel non-diffractive extended monofocal intraocular lens (Evolux, Sifi) following cataract surgery. serves as a preliminary assess its feasibility improve research methodology. Methods: We conducted single-arm, non-randomized, retrospective at Onioptic Hospital, Craiova, Romania, involving patients who underwent surgery from November 2022 August 2023. The parameters were evaluated 3 months postoperatively: monocular uncorrected (UDVA) corrected (CDVA) distance acuity 4 m; (UIVA) distance-corrected (DCIVA) intermediate 60 cm; (UNVA) (DCNVA) near 40cm; postoperative refraction expressed spheric equivalent (SE) Quality Vision (QoV) questionnaire scores. contrast sensitivity defocus curve 1 month postoperation in 22 eyes. SPSS Statistics 26.0 was used for statistical analysis, employing percentages, standard deviations (SDs), 95% confidence interval (95% CI). Results: Among 103 eyes 81 (mean age 68.7 ± 1.845), 64% achieved an UDVA logMAR 0.1 or better, 91.26% CDVA better months. Additionally, 83.24% exhibited UIVA 0.3 60.19% attained UNVA better.
