ABSTRACT The noise pollution, habitat loss, and human disturbance caused by urbanization have damaged bird communities. Research on the relationship between birds has predominantly focused highly urbanized areas, with relatively few studies in underdeveloped areas. Here, we conducted surveys along urban–rural continuum utilizing 150 line transects within a 51,385 km 2 area from June to August 2022 2023, aiming explore impact of species diversity functional traits during breeding season Huanghuai Plain China. We found significant differences among three habitats (i.e., urban, suburban, rural). Additionally, measure combining several aspects (the urban synthetic index) had negative correlations richness Shannon‐Wiener index, while it no correlation traits. then assessed that environmental noise, distance county center, proportion building 250‐m radius were critical factors affecting diversity, as well center best predictors for composition proportions diets nest types similar across rural habitats. Our study highlights importance index protecting Plain. research findings filled gap regarding avian communities based continuum.
