How dermis maintains tissue homeostasis in cyclic growth and wounding is a fundamental unsolved question. Here, we study how dermal components of feather follicles undergo physiological (molting) plucking injury-induced regeneration chickens. Proliferation analyses reveal quiescent, transient-amplifying (TA) long-term label-retaining cell (LRDC) states. During the phase, LRDCs are activated to make new with distinct cellular flows. Dermal TA cells, enriched proximal follicle, generate both peripheral pulp, which extends distally expand epithelial-mesenchymal interactive interface for barb patterning, central provides nutrition. Entering resting LRDCs, accompanying collar bulge epidermal descend apical papilla. In next cycle, these papilla re-activated become pulp progenitor cells. lower sheath can pulp. Transcriptome identify marker genes highlight molecular signaling associated specification. We compare topological changes those hair convergently evolved follicle configuration. This work presents model analyzing remodeling mesenchymal progenitors.

The Xuefeng black bone chicken (XFBC) represents an important poultry genetic resource. However, the darkness in breast muscle is heterogeneous. molecular mechanisms underlying melanogenesis of XFBC remains unclear. This study used RNA-seq to compare difference transcriptome between hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation muscle. Six cDNA libraries were constructed for groups XFBC. We identified 395 differently expressed genes (DEGs) group (P < 0.05, |log2FC|≥1). Gene ontology (GO) enrichment Kyoto Encyclopedia Genes Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis indicated several differentially enriched biological functions pathways involved set (GSEA) GO two significant gene sets, including pigment metabolic process transmembrane receptor protein tyrosine kinase activity. Abstract The taxonomic classification of a falcon population found in the Altai region Asia has been heavily debated for two centuries and previous studies have inconclusive, hindering more informed conservation approach. Here, we generated chromosome-level gyrfalcon reference genome using Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP) assembly pipeline. Using whole sequences 44 falcons from different species populations, including “Altai” falcons, analyzed their structure, admixture patterns demographic history. We find that are genomically mosaic saker ancestries, carry distinct W- mitochondrial-haplotypes cluster with lanner falcon. haplotype diverged 422,000 years ago ancestor sakers gyrfalcons, both which, turn, split 109,000 ago. W chromosome includes coding variants may influence important structural, behavioral reproductive traits. These findings support designation as ( Falco altaicus ).

Abstract Background The locus for naked neck ( Na ) in chickens reduces feather coverage and leads to increased heat dissipation from the body surface resulting better adaptability hot conditions. However, gene is linked significantly lower hatchability due an late embryonic mortality. It has been argued that causative GDF7 may have a direct pleiotropic effect on via its muscle development. Thus, study presented here analyses transcriptome of hatching M. complexus) shows how impacts development leading reduced rates chickens. Results Using 12 chicken embryos (6 x wildtype Wt 6 RNA was extracted complexus each embryo sequenced. differential expression led discovery 461 differentially expressed (DE) genes experimental group. Among those, 77 were uncertain function (LOC symbols), with 31 classified as uncharacterised. regulation number pathways involved normal development, found be negatively influenced by genotype. Further cell-cell adhesion, cell signalling pathways, amino acid (AA) metabolism/transport also observed. With understanding mutation activity, indicates high likelihood excerpting effect, not just observed reduction patterning, but impacting M.complexus , consequently birds Furthermore, enrichment complexus, still ongoing embryos. In a hybrid zone between two tropical lekking birds, yellow male plumage of one species has introgressed asymmetrically replacing white another via sexual selection. We determine that carotenoid lutein underlies phenotype describe microstructural feather features likely enhance color appearance. These same reduce predicted water shedding capacity feathers, potential liability in tropics. Through genome-scale DNA sequencing hybrids each genus, identify BCO2 as major gene responsible for polymorphism. The tree genome-wide allele frequency patterns suggest carotenoid-pigmented collars initially arose third reached through historical flow. Complex interplay selection hybridization thus shaped phenotypes these species, where conspicuous traits are key reproductive success.

Developmental programs of living organisms have often been modified in response to environmental changes. Modifications phenotypes can occur through the natural selection genetic variations over many generations. Phenotypic also arise by within-generation developmental responses cues. Such phenotypic plasticity is driven epigenetic modulations gene expression within a single generation, but transgenerational transmission environmentally induced traits another matter. Recent studies provided evidence for inheritance acquired characteristics stimuli various organisms, including plants, worms, flies and mammals (Kishimoto, Uno, Okabe, Nono, & Nishida, 2017; Martienssen, Barkan, Taylor, Freeling, 1990; Seong, Li, Shimizu, Nakamura, Ishii, 2011; Weaver et al., 2004). In addition, there has possible association between changes genomic mutations during evolution. For example, triggers regulate transposable element insertion stress-responsive genes (Hosokawa Kakutani, 2018), chromatin organization contributes, at least part, regional variation substitution, deletion rates genome (Makova Hardison, 2015).
