1. Frequently changing climatic conditions can cause recurring droughts which often subject plants to tremendous amounts of stress, leaving biologists wonder about its impact on the associated herbivores and their interactions with host plants. 2. The present study was aimed at assessing low moisture stress herbivore‐plant using tomato (leaf miner, Tuta absoluta sap feeder, Bemisia tabaci ). 3. leaf miner T. preferred exposed moderate drought compared severely stressed or healthy while feeder B. that were irrigated regularly over others. Summary Plants are often attacked by multiple insect herbivores. How plants deal with an increasing richness of attackers from a single or feeding guilds is poorly understood. We subjected black mustard ( Brassica nigra ) to 51 treatments representing attack species (one, two four species) either phloem feeders, leaf chewers, mix both when keeping total density constant and studied how this affects plant resistance subsequent caterpillars the diamondback moth Plutella xylostella ). Increased in phloem‐feeding compromised P. . By contrast, chewers induced stronger while did not play significant role for chewing herbivore responses. Attack herbivores different resulted similar levels that were previously exposed herbivory. conclude B. channel their defence responses towards feeding‐guild specific response under multi‐species same guild, but integrate simultaneously confronted guilds.

Abstract Descriptions of ecological networks typically assume that the same interspecific interactions occur each time a community is observed. This contrasts with known stochasticity communities: composition, species abundances and link structure all vary in space time. Moreover, finite sampling generates variation set actually For have not been observed, most datasets will contain enough information for ecologist to be confident unobserved truly did occur. Here, we develop conceptual analytical tools needed capture uncertainty estimation pairwise interactions. To define problem, identify different contributions an interaction. Abstract Honeydew, a sugary excretion produced by sap‐feeding insects, plays pivotal role in shaping intricate interactions between insects and plants. This review explains the multifaceted aspects of honeydew, beginning with an overview its production mechanisms factors influencing variability across insect species plant hosts. Exploring composition, we examine chemical components nutritional aspects, highlighting variations based on sources. The impact honeydew microbial communities is explored, shedding light diversity abundance microorganisms. Furthermore, investigates how affects pest behaviour population dynamics, elucidating responses to deposition. In realm biocontrol, relationships natural enemies, considering potential implications for integrated management. Beyond these individual components, paper discusses broader ecological consequences ecosystems, emphasizing interconnected plants concludes identifying research gaps suggesting future directions, recognizing need further investigation into areas applications agriculture ecology. provides comprehensive synthesis current understanding honeydew's significance insect–plant interactions, offering insights both researchers practitioners field.
