Summary
Sodium‐glucose
cotransporter
2
inhibitors
(SGLT2i)
are
human
antidiabetic
drugs
that
increasingly
used
in
equine
practice
for
the
management
of
hyperinsulinaemia
and
hyperinsulinaemia‐associated
laminitis.
However,
understanding
SGLT2i
use
horses
is
its
infancy
compared
to
medicine.
This
review
article
aims
briefly
examine
literature
both
species,
highlighting
current
knowledge
gaps,
potential
similarities
therapeutic
outcomes
possible
adverse
effects.
