The growing demand for plastic products has led to an increase in human exposure microplastics (MPs). MPs have been shown detrimental effects on reproductive function, while probiotics demonstrated promise enhancing fertility. This study aimed determine the protective of Lactobacillus brevis GKJOY against damage induced by polystyrene (PS-MPs) male rats. In cell study, LC540 cells were treated with L. postbiotic (PGK), gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), and PS-MPs evaluate their viability reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. animal experiment, rats a low dose (GK1X, 50 mg/kg), medium (GK2X, 100 or high (GK4X, 200 mg/kg). results showed that PGK GABA reduced levels ROS protected oxidative stress. contrast, increased had harmful viability. testicular injuries caused disruption hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal (HPG) axis decrease hormone levels. However, treatment stress pro-inflammatory cytokine levels, restored hormonal imbalances, significant improvements. effectively mitigated due its dual function as probiotic neurotransmitter modulator. conclusion, GKJOY, which functions both producer, may offer superior protection damage.

Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) from certain strains of Gram-negative bacteria can induce a rapid (<1 s) hyperpolarization membrane potential, followed by gradual depolarization exceeding the initial resting potential. Through overexpression Drosophila ORK1 two-pore-domain K+ channel (K2P) in larval muscles and altering external concentrations Na+ ions, it is clear that due to activating K2P channels promoting an inward leak. When concentration negligible, LPS-delayed dampened. The induced LPS exceed −100 mV when are lowered. These results indicate direct action on ion independently immune responses.
