Although somewhat debated, it is generally agreed in Europe that small water bodies comprise lentic ecosystems are shallow (less than 20 m) and have a surface area of few hectares 10 ha). In Albania, 84 glacial lakes constitute substantial portion the aquatic sustain high levels biodiversity, metabolic rates, functionality. This paper discusses integration ecological sustainability into ecosystem services (i.e., cultural, regulatory, sustaining services) national networks protected sites. particularly important light recent advancements regarding European integration. It also due to catchment continuum, which addresses biodiversity values gradients that, this work, considered using rotifer communities plant species. The main causes stressors on inappropriate land use, pollution, altered habitats, non-native species introduction, resource mismanagement basins, inadequate planning, lack sector reflect climate change elements through: an increased number dried lakes, so only remain functioning; level slowly being reduced; oscillation steadily increasing; eutrophication process rapidly advancing.
