The demand for microbially produced surface-active compounds use in industrial processes and products is increasing. As such, there has been a comparable increase the number of publications relating to characterization novel compounds: producers already characterized production generation these compounds. Leading researchers field have identified that many studies utilize techniques are not precise accurate enough, so some published conclusions might be justified. Such lacking robust experimental evidence generated by validated standard operating procedures detrimental compound research. In this publication, we critically reviewed wide range utilized from microbial sources: identification producing microorganisms functional testing resultant We also required process development take out laboratory into application. devised review as guide both peer-reviewed improve stringency future within science.

Summary Rhamnolipids are biosurfactants with a wide range of industrial applications that entered into the market decade ago. They naturally produced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa and some Burkholderia species. Occasionally, strains different bacterial species, like chlororaphis NRRL B‐30761, which have acquired RL‐producing ability horizontal gene transfer, been described. P. , ubiquitous opportunistic pathogenic bacterium, is best rhamnolipids producer, but putida has used as heterologous host for production this biosurfactant relatively good yields. The molecular genetics widely studied not only due to interest in developing overproducing strains, because it coordinately regulated expression virulence‐related traits quorum‐sensing response. Here, we highlight how research mechanisms involved rhamnolipid impacted development suitable biosurfactant, well perspectives improve these useful strains.
