Abstract This five‐wave longitudinal study examined the between‐ and within‐family dynamic associations between father, mother, child anxiety moderating effects of gender in Chinese culture. Five hundred twenty‐two father–mother dyads children (59% boys; M age T 1 = 8.34 years) completed measures at five time points, 6 months apart. Between‐family suggested that whose parents had more symptoms showed higher levels, mothers or fathers partners levels. At level, after periods with symptoms, reported vice versa. However, no reciprocal were found father mother anxiety. Finally, did not differ across boys girls. Our findings highlight importance distinguishing among between‐family help to develop effective programs prevent disorders families.
