ABSTRACT Aims This article presents an adapted framework that integrates the Patient Health Engagement (PHE) model with Orem's Nursing Systems theory. The highlights nursing role in encouraging Information Technology (HIT) tools, such as secure messaging and patient portals, to enhance activation support their self‐care capabilities, particularly chronic disease management aided by actions. Background Despite HIT's improving care increased government incentives for its adoption, utilisation remains low due various sociodemographic factors psychosocial factors. discipline addresses these practice thus could facilitate use of HIT‐related tools patients. We propose embedded priorities building agencies patients centred around HIT use.
