Purpose This study aims to holistically explore the intersection of sustainable supply chain management, carbon accounting and life cycle assessment (LCA). The purpose this is derive state-of-the-art knowledge landscape use it build a structured research agenda that can help further develop field. Design/methodology/approach Seventy-eight distinct contributions, identified through rigorous, transparent replicable search protocol, are analyzed systematic literature review. Additionally, bibliometric information on studies extracted from Scopus database visualized VOSViewer RStudio. Findings outlines current across three spheres synthesizing extant into several nascent themes – namely, significance Scope 3 emissions; how LCA be integrated sustainability disclosures, differences between countries industries in terms emissions policies for concerted effort toward reduction. Practical implications Several practical drawn both practitioners policymakers. provides comprehensive, bird’s eye view discrepancies different emissions, along with should move strategic predictive adoption. Social results show adopting thinking contribute more monitoring chains; however, its reporting needs become widespread, encompassing not only footprints products services but also organization as whole. Originality/value Using bibliographic critical qualitative analyses, reviews management accounting. To best authors’ knowledge, review first attempt synthesize relevant rapidly growing nexus streams mentioned above.

Participation in global value chains (GVCs) can help countries achieve productivity growth and increase the domestic added (DVA) through allocation of production processes. Therefore, identifying factors within GVC (value productivity, export share, backward forward linkage them, economic scale) that reveals key considerations policy-making for DVA contribution. We developed a new structural decomposition analysis decomposes time-series changes export-related into five effects empirically analysed Japan's economy between 2000–2014. The results show supply chain share intermediate goods negatively impacted DVA. found exports triggered expansion downstream markets emerging nations, like China, high-technology industries are to growth.
