ABSTRACT
The
ongoing
debate
in
corporate
sustainability
(CS)
about
the
moral
case
versus
business
has
recently
made
its
way
into
circular
economy
(
CE
)
discourse,
bringing
with
it
new
tradeoffs.
Although
perspective
emphasizes
profitability,
critics
argue
that
must
go
beyond
profit
motives
and
include
environmental
social
goals.
Despite
growing
importance
of
this
debate,
a
detailed
analysis
comparing
tradeoffs
between
cases
within
context
been
largely
bypassed
literature.
This
article
aims
to
bridge
gap
by
exploring
contrasts
these
highlighting
co‐evolutionary
relationship
them
transition.
Our
contributions
are
threefold:
(1)
We
many
perceived
limitations
contemporary
arise
from
viewing
as
statically
inevitable
rather
than
dynamically
resolvable.
(2)
conceptualize
cases,
suggesting
over
time,
innovative
governance,
elements
can
be
transformed
cases.
(3)
propose
definition
for
(i.e.,

Abstract
The
world
society
is
in
urgent
need
for
new
ecological
problem
solutions
on
a
global
scale.
However,
the
current
system
to
incentivize
invention
and
innovation
green
technologies
only
limitedly
able
provide
effective
solutions—particularly
“global
south”.
Since
patents
that
exert
distortionary
effects
remain
dominant
mechanisms
incentivizing
innovation,
debate
about
alternative
incentivization
instruments
fostering
has
recently
been
renewed.
Yet,
some
of
these
run
danger
so-called
“projectitis”
,
an
obsession
with
static
small-scale
projects.
Instead,
this
article
argues
we
scalable
experiments
better
institutional
support
systemic
activities
by
improving
governance
regime
moves
beyond
individual
organizations,
industries,
sectors,
states,
geopolitical
blocks.
From
sustainability
nexus
perspective,
required
ecosystems
must
therefore
account
interconnections
between
technological,
economic,
political,
social,
environmental
issues.
A
reformed
order
combines
may
help
redirect
resources
towards
more
systemic,
market-based,
consumer-oriented
path
legitimate
sustainable
development,
as
proposed
2030
Agenda
its
development
goals
(SDGs),
without
leaving
particular
countries
behind,
while
at
same
time
maintaining
companies’
dynamism
long
run.
