Neurological disorders pose significant global public health challenges, with a rising prevalence and complex pathophysiological mechanisms that impose substantial social economic burdens. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), its holistic approach multi-target effects, has gained increasing attention in the treatment of neurological diseases. This review explores bioactive compounds derived from herbal plants, focusing on their action, underlying pathways, potential applications functional food development. The highlights neuroprotective properties flavonoids, alkaloids, polysaccharides, polyphenols found key TCM herbs such as Scutellaria baicalensis , Salvia miltiorrhiza Ligusticum chuanxiong Gastrodia elata . These have demonstrated anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, neurogenic making them promising candidates for prevention conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s (PD), depression. Furthermore, synergistic effects formulations targeting multiple signaling pathways offer advantages over single-target therapies, especially combating neurodegenerative also discusses challenges future directions integrating these into foods dietary supplements, aiming to improve enhance clinical outcomes. Ultimately, this work aims provide valuable insights TCM-based interventions promoting well-being addressing burden disorders.

Peanut meal (seeds waste with the red skin) contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds, which protect cells from oxidative stress inflammation. Hypothesis: This byproduct can be used to produce nutraceutical functional food items that may become popular. Methods: Ultrasound-assisted extraction was prepare peanut extracts at various times different solvents of 90 % (acetone, ethanol, methanol, acetic acid ethyl ester). Acetone extracting (for 20 min ) demonstrated highest total phenolic content (83.78 mg GAE/g meal) DPPH scavenging activity (95.83 %). extract (PME) analyzed by HPLC encapsulated using sodium alginate via co-extrusion technique. The alginate/PME microbeads were studied for their morphology release compounds. Results: results molecular docking a strong binding affinity, implying identified compounds in PME inhibit acetylcholinesterase. Through vivo study, it revealed antioxidant effects AlCl3-treated rats. Additionally, reduced acetylcholinesterase while elevating levels dopamine serotonin compared Conclusion: work provided valuable contributions towards valorization byproducts, highlighting potential neuroprotective effect against aluminum-induced Alzheimer's disease.

ABSTRACT This preface introduces a collection of new work focused on matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and select MMP substrates in the nervous system. Discovered over 60 years ago during study collagen degradation tadpole tail metamorphosis by Gross Lapiere, MMPs are now known to play critical roles adaptive non‐adaptive physiological processes varied species. Though early studies predominantly their role inflammation, wound healing, angiogenesis, last 20 has expanded include an abundance related brain disease plasticity. Particularly novel intriguing numerous those mood memory, as well period closure. The manuscripts herein review MMP‐9, that is released from resident cells brain, including neurons microglia, comprehensive perineuronal nets (PNNs), which composed brevican. Additional focus fragile X messenger ribonucleoprotein 1 product (FMRP) translational regulation aggrecan, important PNN component, showing chondroitin sulfate‐glycosaminoglycan compositional changes mouse model tauopathy, localization PNN‐like structures enteric system, mechanism MMP‐2 could contribute disruption blood‐brain barrier, differential effects sirtuin agonist glial neuronal release.

Background: The aging population is associated with a net increase in the incidence and prevalence of chronic-degenerative diseases, particularly neurocognitive disorders. Therefore, identification preventative strategies to restrain burden such chronic conditions key relevance. Red wine its components have accumulated evidence regarding their positive effects terms neurological pathologies symptoms. Methods: Based on this background, present narrative review aims summarize state-of-the-art red disorders both preclinical clinical settings. Results: main findings highlight protective effect polyphenols dementia different models cognitive decline. current translational remains uncertain, especially considering risk-to-benefit ratio alcohol consumption brain health. Conclusions: Given overall health risks consistent prevailing guidelines literature, there insufficient support light-to-moderate as an effective strategy for preventing these diseases. However, largely derived from remain significant interest context.

To investigate the expression of matrix protein metalloenzymes (MMPs) during cerebral aneurysm (CA) formation and assess effects resveratrol (RES) on MMP CA prevention. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups: sham-operated, CA, RES groups. models constructed by ligating renal carotid arteries SD rats. The group received a diet mixed with (50 mg/kg), while was given normal feed; sham-operated underwent simulated surgery without ligation feed. HE staining used to observe pathological changes in artery wall. Immunofluorescence (IF) RT-PCR detect MMP-2 MMP-9, as well oxidative stress markers wall tissues at 1-, 2-, 3-months post-surgery. reveled that after ligation, walls exhibited irregular thickness, twisted morphology, abnormal nuclear morphology cells, infiltration inflammatory confirming successful establishment model. Meanwhile, infrared spectrogram purified from Tiger Balm closely matched standard, purification. IF indicated MMP-9 levels dynamically increased over time vessel Subsequently, antioxidant assays showed treatment enhanced capacity, superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, catalase vascular tissue. Moreover, 3 months treatment, marked reduction also improvements structure, more intact an endothelial cell density. effectively inhibits thereby preventing delaying development CA.
