Behavioral sex differences are widespread in the animal world. These can be qualitative (i.e., behavior present one but not other, a true dimorphism) or quantitative (behavior is at higher rate quality compared to other). Singing oscine songbirds associated with both types of differences. In canaries, female rarely sing spontaneously they induced do so by treatments steroids. Song these females is, however, fully masculinized and exhibits relatively subtle as male song. We analyzed here syllable content use between singing canaries. Songs were recorded from three groups castrated photoregressed canaries that had received Silastic™ implants filled testosterone (T), T plus estradiol (E2), left empty (control). After 6 weeks hormone treatment, 30 songs each 47 subjects. segmented was annotated. Various metrics diversity extracted network analysis employed characterize sequences. Anthropogenic noise constrains the transmission of birdsong and alters behavior receivers. Many birds adjust their acoustic signals to minimize interference anthropogenic on signal transmission. Birds may also change exchange information during aggressive interactions. However, it is unclear how deal with a potential trade‐off between adjusting better transmit in noisy environments versus mediating Additionally, we do not know urbanization territorial We investigated interplay among song, aggression, urbanization, noise, males southern house wren Troglodytes aedon musculus , using recordings spontaneous songs (non‐aggressive context) playback experiment simulating male intrusion (aggressive context). found that urban wrens behaved more aggressively response intruder by singing spent time closer than rural regardless noise. Males produced lower minimum frequency trills wider bandwidth higher vocal performance under acute (playback) relaxed (post‐playback) encounters. These results suggest use communicate intent or fighting ability. Abstract Song evolution and revolution events recorded through time are typical cultural features for humpback whale ( Megaptera novaeangliae ) populations worldwide. However, it is unknown if song dynamics equivalent among subpopulations or breeding stocks of the South Pacific Ocean. To contribute to understanding temporal off coast Ecuador, we analyzed acoustic richness repertoire composition based on unit, phrase, over consecutive seasons from 2012 2019. We observed incomplete revolutions (all themes were replaced except one) a nonsignificant variation in during study period. Our results show that years, singers incorporate material different such as Central (French Polynesia) western Atlantic (Brazil) into their repertoire. The contact migrating eastern may be reflected particular evolution. Off patterns point towards an alternative scenario evolution, indicating how transmission can alter specific grounds due lack geographical barriers surrounding southeastern region.
