Abstract Health represents the dynamic balance of physical, mental, social, and existential well‐being in adapting to conditions life environment. is essential for quality (QoL) all individuals, including those with intellectual disability (ID). People ID experience health inequities barriers care that must be addressed foster QoL this population. This paper illustrates how poor negatively impacts each eight domains model proposed by Shalock Verdugo (2002) (e.g., limit work performance, decreasing opportunities personal development self‐determination ). Suggestions healthcare practices behaviors would improve provided people ID, thus their QoL, are offered engaging medical conversation, talking them plain language without jargon enhances , self‐determination, interpersonal relationships social inclusion QoL). Finally, we suggest actions families might implement maximize wellness maintaining a healthy lifestyle, using promotion resources organizations).

The Quality of Life Supports Model (QOLSM) is emerging as a new framework that applicable to people with disabilities in general, but specially intellectual and developmental (IDD). aim this conceptual paper twofold. Firstly, it aims show the overlap between QOLSM Convention on Rights People Disabilities (CRPD), highlighting how former can be used address many goals rights embedded latter. Secondly, article seeks illustrate connection these two frameworks highlight importance acknowledging measuring IDD. Therefore, we posit #Rights4MeToo scale ideal for: (a) providing accessible means opportunities for IDD identify communicate their needs regarding rights; (b) enhancing supports services families professionals provide them; (c) guiding organizations policies strengths relation quality life.
