The purpose of this systematic literature review was to establish a correlation between thyroid dysfunctions and periodontium health. conducted according PRISMA statement. An electronic search performed using MEDLINE (PubMed) Google Scholar databases combination keywords "hypothyroidism", "thyroid", "thyroid dysfunction" "periodontitis". research covered the period from January 1, 2019 July 2024, included studies written in English, humans. results showed that hyperthyroidism can be associated with higher prevalence periodontitis due decreased oral microbiome diversity, serum thyroid-stimulating hormone levels, increased periodontal pocket depth, clinical attachment loss interleukin-6. Hyperparathyroidism after parathyroidectomy may lead slightly risk tooth extraction first two years afterward because decreasing lamina dura, increasing ligament width. And hypothyroidism negatively affects homeostasis calcium phosphorus fluid change composition bone minerals. Hyperthyroidism increases by promoting deeper pockets, reducing altering alveolar structure elevating inflammatory markers like interleukin-6, which are linked disease progression. Hypothyroidism worsens disrupting calcium-phosphorus balance causing changes, especially young individuals. Both conditions affect homeostasis, emphasizing bidirectional relationship endocrine Dentists should monitor dysfunction, as managing levels improve treatment.
