Abstract To clarify the effect and mechanism of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) on insomnia, SD rats were divided randomly into PCPA, HBO+PCPA Control group (n=8). Rat insomnia model was established by intraperitoneal injection para-chlorophenylalanine (PCPA), then 2.0ATA-60min HBO given. After intervention, general behavior, sleep status, brain tissue pathology, serum inflammatory oxidative stress molecules measured. Compared with group, in PCPA showed circadian rhythm reversal, daytime time reduction, weight loss temper irritability. Sleep latency significantly prolonged duration shortened group. All above changes improved intervention. Positive Nissl staining hippocampus, prefrontal cortex hypothalamus largely decreased compared controls, which obviously reversed Moreover, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-17A, TNF-Α MDA markedly increased, while IL-10, IL-12p70 SOD to Controls. When intervention can decrease levels MDA, increased serum. relieve PCPA-induced rat symptoms, reduce inflammation injury vivo, is one mechanisms treatment for insomnia.

Insomnia, the most prevalent sleep disorder, is commonly associated with other mental and somatic disorders, making it a significant health concern. It characterized by nighttime symptoms daytime dysfunction, sleepiness being potential criterion for latter. Sleepiness normal physiological state that typically experienced near usual bedtime, in circumstances. In insomnia, seems somewhat logical idea there sleepiness. However, topic has been subject of various discussions medicine, studies yielding contradictory inconsistent results. this article, we aim to critically examine individuals insomnia disorder propose an alternative approach addressing it, both clinical practice research settings. crucial further investigate role particularly focusing on perception as more relevant dimension explore majority patients. plausible certain phenotypes are objectively sleepy during day, but necessary, well-defined samples. The implications assessing discussed, new avenues suggested.
