Abstract The diversity‐functioning relationship is a pillar of ecology. Two significant concepts have emerged from this relationship: redundancy, the asymptotic between diversity and functioning, multifunctionality, monotonic multiple functions occurring simultaneously. However, multifunctional an simultaneously, rarely detected in research. Here we assess whether lack detection due to its true rarity, or systematic research error. Competitive Ability of Enlisttm Maize Against Glyphosate-Resistant Weeds

Corn is a cereal of global importance, fact that has led to the development several technologies improve phytosanitary management crop, including traits confer tolerance herbicides with different mechanisms action. Among weeds widely disseminated in maize crops Brazil are goosegrass (Eleusine indica) and sourgrass (Digitaria insularis), species already have populations resistant glyphosate. To optimize integrated weed management, it essential understand competitive ability hybrids new when coexisting community. Thus, aim this study was evaluate EnlistTM hybrid against E. indica D. insularis under controlled conditions (greenhouse) field. Studies were performed simulating increasing densities coexistence maize, morphophysiological productive parameters measured. The results experiment conducted revealed intriguing patterns, indica, compared insularis, showing more intense competition smaller proportions maize. Under field conditions, surprisingly indicated balanced than suggested by both causing similar reductions yield, regardless density.
