Abstract Glomerella leaf spot (GLS), a fungal disease caused by Colletotrichum fructicola , severely affects apple ( Malus domestica ) quality and yield. In this study, we found that the transcription factor MdWRKY71 was significantly induced C. infection in GLS‐susceptible cultivar Royal Gala. The overexpression of leaves resulted increased susceptibility to whereas RNA interference showed opposite phenotypes. These findings suggest functions as for apple— interaction. Furthermore, directly bound promoter salicylic acid (SA) degradation gene Downy Mildew Resistant 6 DMR6 ‐Like Oxygenase 1 DLO1 promoted its expression, resulting reduced SA level. sensitivity 35S: can be effectively alleviated knocking down MdDLO1 confirming critical role MdWRKY71‐mediated via regulating expression GLS susceptibility. summary, identified factor, MdWRKY71, targets pathway promote infection.

Abstract WRKY transcription factors (TFs) have evolved as a plant-specific gene family. Growing evidences indicate that TFs play crucial roles in plant growth, development, and responses to environmental stimuli. These primarily recognize W-box cis -elements less extent, WT-box. The binding affinity of these is modulated by protein folding, post-translational modifications, the nucleotide sequence adjacent core motif, including its methylation status. interaction proteins with receptors or components receptor complexes offers potential shortcut signaling pathway for prompt appropriate responses. Recent studies demonstrated can be targeted effectors from pathogens insects, leading shared events between distinct invaders. Modifications kinases other regulators alter their DNA-binding and/or transactivation abilities, thereby impacting expression target genes. Additionally, formation involving provides valuable insights into regulatory networks governed this TF This review highlights recent advancements understanding interactions -elements, well biotic abiotic stresses, metabolism, development.
