Background/Objectives:
Many
deprived
communities
in
the
UK
have
low
fruit
and
vegetable
(FV)
intake,
leading
to
poor
health
outcomes.
Fresh
Street
is
a
place-based
voucher
approach
that
enables
households
buy
FV
from
local
independent
suppliers.
Community
embeds
this
within
community
hubs,
thus
enabling
use
vouchers
purchase
centres.
This
paper
explores
enablers
barriers
influencing
uptake
of
two
urban
areas
high
deprivation.
Methods:
three-phase
exploratory
qualitative
study
was
informed
by
‘co-production’
with
researchers
at
both
sites:
(1)
literature
review
observations
identifying
schemes;
(2)
semi-structured
interviews
focus
groups
research
team
food
‘validate’
factors
identified
phase
1
develop
explanatory
narratives
for
these
factors;
(3)
participatory
thematic
analysis
finalise
factors.
Results:
A
total
ten
sixteen
were
validated
across
sites.
However,
differences
contexts
operational
procedures
impacted
future
scheme
implementation.
The
important
role
engage
participants
support
synthesis
findings
also
presented.
Conclusions:
offers
practical
critical
insights
researchers,
practitioners
on
influence
centre-based
address
nutritional
inequalities.
