Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a common microvascular complication of diabetes, global health issue. Hyperglycemia, in concert with cytokines, activates the Janus kinase (JAK)/signal transducer and activator transcription (STAT) pathway to induce inflammation oxidative stress contributing renal damage. There evidence microRNA-155 (miR-155) involvement diabetes complications, but underlying mechanisms are unclear. In this study, gain- loss-of-function experiments were conducted investigate interplay between miR-155-5p suppressor cytokine signaling 1 (SOCS1) regulation JAK/STAT during DKD. experimental models mesangial injury expression correlated inversely SOCS1 positively albuminuria levels cytokines prooxidant genes. cells, mimic downregulated promoted STAT1/3 activation, expression, cell proliferation migration. Conversely, both antagonism overexpression protected cells from hyperglycemia vivo, gene delivery decreased diabetic mice. Moreover, therapeutic inhibition suppressed activation alleviated albuminuria, damage, inflammatory fibrotic conclusion, modulation miR-155/SOCS1 axis protects kidneys against thus highlighting its potential as target for

Abstract Background The estimation of glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is essential in the early detection diabetic nephropathy. We herein compare performance common eGFR formulas against a gold standard measurement GFR patients with diabetes mellitus. Methods was measured 93 mellitus using iohexol clearance as reference standard. creatinine- and cystatin C-based EKFC (2021, 2023) CKD-EPI (2009, 2012) compared GFR. Results Sixty type 2 33 1 were included. creatinine-based formula showed lower bias higher accuracy than formula. No significant difference observed between formulas. combined had highest lowest bias. Body fat or did not significantly influence Conclusions Our study demonstrated slight advantage over diabetes. However, both for formula, best achieved by Graphical abstract

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a common vascular complication of diabetes Miletus (DM) that require weight control and dietary restrictions, especially for protein. A protein-restricted diet with ketoacid analogs (KA) reduces the intake nitrogen while avoiding harmful consequences inadequate protein intake. This study aimed to investigate efficacy safety protein-free in chronic kidney disease (CKD)-affected diabetic rats. Sixty adult male albino rats were grouped into six equal groups (G): G (1) Control group, (2) Normal Received low diet, (3) standard (4) 12 weeks, (5) received α-keto amino acids (KAA) (6) diet. Blood sample was used assess blood glucose (mg/dl), insulin (pmol/L), urea creatinine total cholesterol (TC) LDL HDL triglycerides (TG) albumin (mg/dl) levels. significant decrease glucose, serum cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides, observed level, albumin, glomerular filtration rate (GFR), urine volume significantly increased group six. containing KAA improves renal function, lowers levels, maintains body weight, does not worsen nutritional status DN over time.
