Root-knot nematodes (RKNs, Meloidogyne spp.) can cause severe yield losses in tomatoes. The Mi-1.2 gene tomato confers resistance to the species M. incognita , arenaria and javanica which are prevalent growing areas. However, this breaks down at high soil temperatures (>28°C). Therefore, it is imperative that new sources identified incorporated into commercial breeding programmes. We a line, MT12, does not have but provides 32°C temperature. An F 2 mapping population was generated by crossing resistant line with susceptible MT17; segregation ratio showed conferred single dominant gene, designated RRKN1 ( Resistance Root-Knot Nematode 1 ). mapped using 111 Kompetitive Allele Specific PCR (KASP) markers characterized. Linkage analysis located on chromosome 6 flanking placed locus within 270 kb interval. These newly developed help pyramiding R -genes generating varieties RKNs temperatures.
