ABSTRACT Jasmonic acid (JA) and gibberellin (GA) coordinate many aspects of plant growth development, including anthocyanin biosynthesis. However, the crossover points JA GA signals pathways through which they interact to regulate biosynthesis are poorly understood. Here, we investigated molecular mechanism by zinc finger protein (ZFP) transcription factor Malus domestica ZFP7 (MdZFP7) regulates integrating at transcriptional post‐translational levels. MdZFP7 is a positive regulator biosynthesis, fulfills its role directly activating expression MdMYB1 enhancing activation MdWRKY6 on target genes MdDFR MdUF3GT . integrates interacting with repressor apple JASMONATE ZIM‐DOMAIN2 (MdJAZ2) REPRESSOR‐of‐ga1‐3‐like 3a (MdRGL3a). MdJAZ2 weakens disrupts MdZFP7–MdWRKY6 interaction, thereby reducing promoted MdZFP7. MdRGL3a contributes stimulation sequestering from MdJAZ2–MdZFP7 complex. The E3 ubiquitin ligase BOI‐related ubiquitin‐protein 3 (MdBRG3), antagonistically regulated GA, targets ubiquitination degradation MdBRG3‐MdZFP7 module moves crosstalk realm regulation into modification. In conclusion, this study not only elucidates node‐role in integration signals, but also describes regulatory network as hub.

Summary Nitrate is the main source of nitrogen in plants. stimulation causes changes plant secondary metabolites, including anthocyanins. However, molecular mechanism underlying how nitrate regulates anthocyanin biosynthesis remains unclear. In this study, we identified a response factor MdLBD36 apple. This positively regulated deficiency‐induced by promoting transcriptional activity MdABI5, an important regulator anthocyanins, and directly activated MdABI5 expression. The E3 ubiquitin ligase MdBRG3 promoted ubiquitinated degradation to reduce under nitrate‐sufficient conditions. deficiency‐activated MdMPK7 maintained stimulating effect on counteracting MdBRG3‐mediated MdLBD36. coordinated gibberellin (GA) signaling regulate biosynthesis. GA repressor MdRGL2a contributed MdLBD36‐promoted enhancing MdLBD36–MdABI5 interaction increasing activation . summary, our results elucidate framework regulation ubiquitination phosphorylation. study revealed cross talk between provides references for in‐depth exploration signal transduction pathway its interactions with hormones.
