Eco-evo-devo is an interdisciplinary field integrating ecology, evolutionary biology, and developmental biology. Niche construction refers to the phenomenon where organisms alter selection pressures through ecological activities, inheritance consequence of niche construction, passed down generations. Development encompasses process by which organism grows changes its form behavior throughout lifetime. Despite emerging research on eco-evo-devo, evolution involving complex physical structures remains underexplored. We aim explore interactions between these components in adaptive morphology artificial creatures. constructed model a population rigid-bodied creatures must cross two valleys reach goal, using morphological development object 3D environment. found that both lifetime (LD) (NC) showed complementary roles, with LD contributing crossing one valley NC other. Regarding (EI), we observed how adapts presence inherited objects placing fewer construct structures. On other hand, large percentage EI can cause obstacles form, hinders from moving towards target facilitates non-adaptive morphology, making unsuccessful.

Morphological modifications are a potential mechanism for functional species and phylogenetic diversification. The sella turcica in mammals is structure associated with the basisphenoid bone serves as receptacle pituitary gland; however, little known about morphological variation that may affect functionality chiropterans. In this study, we provide morphometric evidence of differences between populations Pteronotus mesoamericanus [the Gulf Mexico] P. mexicanus Pacific Coast] by describing variations dimensions dorsum sellae processus clinoideus caudalis turcica. This essay presents two lines of argument to suggest that the extension into adulthood specific phenotypic differentiation processes, typical early development, is fundamental evolution cognition. The first these organized in three steps. step reviews various studies human highlighting it has slowed down throughout compared great apes. second explores relationship between this development and third discusses evolutionary comparative analyses show a correlation cognitive processes developmental changes. line examines concepts phenotype. First, phenotype are reviewed correspondence meanings word plasticity (i.e., as ability alternate or shape), concluded all phenotypes -rigid, plastic, reversible-fit meaning shaping. It proposed phenotypical process can be seen continuous series functional differentiations occur at different times during life organism contextual points, both inside outside organism. Finally, brief recapitulation presented focused on supporting formation behavioral sequence shaping environmental interactions from most general particular.

Abstract That the activities of organisms influence their surrounding ecological communities, and environment, has long been appreciated by palaeontologists, as role these on both evolutionary processes. Spillover effects extend range ecosystem‐engineering through networks, generating network that because non‐trophic nature can be challenging to track. Moreover, cumulative effect organismal persist far beyond lifespan individual organisms, producing inheritances macroecological macroevolutionary dynamics. This contribution surveys patterns arising from ecosystem engineering, potential radiations, significance engineering a public good in success innovations. Anecdotally, such appear have made important contributions, but considerable work is required for more rigorous understanding. I describe two challenges: need palaeontologists collect abundance data way facilitates comparative study, importance robust models (not just trophic) networks involving multigraphs hypergraphs.

Abstract Biogenic sedimentary structures offer a unique perspective for understanding the role of biosphere in interaction with other Earth subsystems and building up our planet. The record their ancient equivalents provides wealth information reconstructing bioturbators as ecosystem engineers using multiple ichnological proxies methods. In this study, we present an overview how bioturbation has worked across broad range spatial temporal scales from engineering. Comprehensive systematic datasets allow analyses at regional global extents, especially over long where sampling intensity rock biases can be considered. Our results underscore significance Cambrian Explosion establishment modern‐style shallow marine ecosystems Ordovician Radiation deep counterparts, well continuous impact during Palaeozoic terrestrialization.
