Abstract Wheat breeding for disease resistance relies on the availability and use of diverse genetic resources. More than 800,000 wheat accessions are globally conserved in gene banks, but they mostly uncharacterized presence genes their potential agriculture. Based selective reduction previously assembled collections allele mining resistance, we a trait-customized panel 755 geographically bread with focus landraces, called LandracePLUS panel. Population structure analysis this based TaBW35K SNP array revealed an increased diversity compared to 632 landraces genotyped earlier study 17 high-quality sequenced accessions. The additional found here originated from Turkish, Iranian Pakistani landraces. We characterized ten isolates fungal pathogen powdery mildew. Performing genome-wide association studies dividing further by targeted subsetting approach distinct geographical origin, detected several known already cloned genes, including Pm2a gene. In addition, identified 22 putatively novel mildew loci that represent useful sources research mildew-wheat pathosystem. Our shows value assembling utilizing range races detect loci.
