In the literature, long-term negative effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on mental health are well known. However, few studies have investigated role social support and cognitive-emotional regulation strategies (CER) in subjects with ACEs. Therefore, considering a sample 86 (N = 24 histories ACEs N 62 without traumatic events), present study investigated: 1. The associations among presence/absence ACEs, use CER strategies, psychological well-being. 2. indirect effect well-being through mediation strategies. Moreover, by only explored: 3. (CER). Results showed that presence was associated maladaptive rumination, catastrophism, blaming others participants' low Regarding mediational analyses, rumination mediated association between case participants positive reappraisal

Importance Childhood adverse experiences have been linked with long-term risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), yet the transgenerational associations between interparental behaviors and CVD remain poorly understood. Objectives To explore association exposure to childhood physical violence subsequent examine whether is modified by adult depressive symptoms. Design, Setting, Participants This population-based cohort study included data from China Health Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), an ongoing recruiting individuals aged 45 years or older, dated June 1, 2011, December 31, 2020, a follow-up duration 9 years. The were analyzed October 2023, May 10, 2024. Exposures An early life questionnaire information on frequency witnessing was administered. Depressive symptoms assessed via validated 10-item Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale. Main Outcomes Measures outcome measures self-reported physician-diagnosed heart (defined as myocardial infarction, angina, coronary disease, failure, other problems) stroke. Multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression models using attained age time scale conducted. Results Of 10 424 participants, mean (SD) 58.1 (9.0) years, 5332 (51.2%) female, 872 (8.4%) reported violence. Exposure associated increased risks adult-onset (hazard ratio [HR], 1.36; 95% CI, 1.20-1.55), (HR, 1.17-1.57), stroke 1.28; 1.03-1.61). exposed had greater prevalence (2371 9335 participants [25.4%]), which mediated 11.0% 1.26; 1.09-1.45). Conclusions Relevance In this study, higher CVD, partially findings emphasize need comprehensive strategies policy efforts that address social determinants provide household education opportunities.

Abstract Background Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory infection that considerably impacts both physical and mental health. In particular, the prolonged nature of psychological issues associated with COVID-19 has become concern. However, evidence based on longitudinal studies investigating changes in fear been limited, posing public health challenge. Methods We investigated predictors Fear Scale (FCV-19S) scores general Japanese population using data from large-scale internet-based cohort study. Results included 20,712 study participants (mean age = 51.1 years, percentage males 49.9%). The baseline FCV-19S score for research was 17.0, one year later, decreased to 15.8. increase were older age, male sex, requiring oxygen therapy, higher total score, severe distress, never married, worsening subjective status, greater number vaccinations, history alcohol dependency, living family members. Conversely, decrease habitual intake, not therapy household income. Our an survey focused residents Japan, which raises possibility selection bias makes it unclear whether findings can be extrapolated other countries cultures. Conclusion During observation period, significantly decreased. Severe within most impactful predictor score. On hand, mild scores. Therefore, we believe necessary adopt individualized approaches stratified by severity when addressing COVID-19.

Objective Although adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are associated with poor health in adulthood, positive (PCEs) can reduce the risk of negative outcomes. This study aimed to investigate whether PCEs community (CPCEs, ie, trusted adults other than parents, supportive friends, belongingness school, or traditions) would have an independent effect on better outcomes and moderate association between ACEs adult illnesses. Design Cross-sectional survey. Setting Data were gathered from a nationwide, cross-sectional internet survey conducted Japan 2022. Participants included 28 617 Japanese aged 18–82 years (51.1% female; mean age=48.1 years). Primary secondary outcome measures The associations among self-reported ACEs, CPCEs before age 18 current chronic diseases (eg, cancer depression) investigated using multivariable logistic regression models. Results lower odds (such as stroke, obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pain, depression, suicidal ideation severe psychological distress) after adjusting for ACEs. More weakened diseases. Specifically, those ≥3 (vs 0–2 CPCEs) lowered adjusted prevalence by ≥50% stroke (2.4% 1.2%), COPD (2.2% 0.7%) distress (16.4% 7.4%). Conclusion could ACE-related physical mental later life. Early-life interventions that enhance schools and/or neighbourhoods recommended.

Aim Adverse childhood experiences are potentially traumatic events with long‐lasting effects on the health and well‐being of patients autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It is important to clarify which types autism‐related symptoms influenced by design future intervention studies. However, few studies have examined association between autistic in large samples adults ASD individuals typical development (TD). In this study, we evaluate adverse multiple phenotypes among both those TD. Method We combined questionnaire evaluations; Childhood Abuse Trauma Scale, Japanese version Autism‐Spectrum Quotient, Conners' Adult ADHD Rating Impact Event Scale‐Revised, Adolescent/Adult Sensory Profile. Results Individuals TD ( n = 205 104, respectively) were included. There significant correlations extent severity attention‐deficit/hyperactivity symptoms, posttraumatic stress hypersensitivity participants By contrast, core showed no correlation either group. These results remained consistent after adjusting for age, sex, estimated intelligence quotient. Conclusion findings suggest need a detailed disentanglement ASD‐related peripheral experiences, may help appropriately set outcomes early interventions ASD.

ACEs assessed Japanese version 15-items ACE measurement tool (ACE-J). Living condition measured Area Deprived Index (ADI) Densely Inhabited District (DID) based on zip code. Multivariable logistic regression analyze associations between ADI 4 + conducted, controlling for individual-level factors, such as age, sex, marital status, education, an additional analysis. Results total 27,916 participants included prevalence emotional neglect, poverty, school bullying 38.2%, 26.5%, 20.8%, respectively. 75% population had one more ACE(s). number significantly higher risk adulthood ( p = 0.001). not density area. association non-significant after factors. Conclusion People tend live areas Policy makers highly can apply trauma-informed approach care support, which is critical mitigating deficit perspectives facilitating comprehensive support those ACEs.

This study examines the effect of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on lifetime suicide attempts (LSA) across five gender subgroups (i.e., transgender men, women, non-binary, cisgender men and women). To examine (1) prevalence LSA identity subgroups; (2) whether association between ACEs is moderated by subgroup; (3) depressive symptoms, alcohol use disorder, social support, well-being as mechanisms linking with LSA; (4) moderating role four putative mediators. We used nationally representative data from a population-based survey N = 1368 individuals collected 2016 2019. Structural equation modeling was to explore indirect symptoms relation LSA, impact identity. significantly more prevalent among respondents (cisgender man 5 %; woman 9 42 33 non-binary 37 p < 0.001). Individuals had greater risk engaging in regardless identity; however, moderation results showed that each additional ACE stronger for identities: likelihood statistically similar no all 8 ACEs. Indirect effects via were also observed, mediating By examining adversity this demonstrates not minority equally.
