This study evaluated the habitat coloration preferences of Siniperca chuatsi and Cirrhinus molitorella in both solitary (n = 1) group 3) settings across six colors. The results indicated that individual S. spent majority their time made frequent visits to black area, followed by blue area. While C. region, groups showed a preference for white regions. These findings highlight distinct different states, suggesting has an important effect on fish behavior environmental adaptation. From behavioral ecology perspective, these may be closely related survival strategies fish. Notably, molitorella's strong backgrounds reflect anti-predator behavior, helping avoid predators, such as chuatsi, natural environments, thereby improving its chances survival. provides scientific basis optimizing aquaculture emphasizing importance considering substrate type designing environments enhance welfare.

The farming of decapod crustaceans is a key economic driver in many countries, with production reaching around 9.4 million tonnes (USD 69.3 billion) 2018. These efforts are currently dominated by the Pacific whiteleg shrimp, Penaeus vannamei , which translates into approximately 167 billion farmed P. being harvested annually. Further growth expected future and hence need for more research its health welfare required. Herein, from an extensive survey available literature, we scrutinise practices challenges associated animal-centric perspective (1), propose potential indicators (2) critically review current scientific evidence sentience penaeid shrimp among other commercially important decapods (3), since it plausible that near not only largest, but fact all will receive protection. While global aquaculture is rapidly expanding, there remains little attention given to the assessment of animal welfare within aquacultural systems. It crucial that concerns are central in development and implementation as if they not prioritized early on, it becomes much more difficult adapt future. To this end, important ensure availability high-quality schemes evaluate animals promote maintain high standards. This paper will first discuss some current certification frameworks, highlighting primary limitations need be addressed, before going on describe recommendations for a best-practice process aquaculture; with hope these considerations can taken board used help improve and, ultimately, have higher level welfare. The effects of stocking density on fish welfare are complex and involve many interacting parameters. This relationship between welfare, influencing factors make it challenging to define a specific optimal (“golden”) density. Indeed, previously published recommendations for different species aquaculture interest incredibly variable even at the same life stage, can also vary widely within rearing unit. Production be estimated quite accurately if farmer has good biomass control known water volume, but is difficult set minimum maximum levels that will protect welfare. However, there little doubt densities too low or high have negative impacts and/or production. Here, we propose how select captive monitor its potential integrating 1) solid assessment based operational indicators 2) management practices. Regulation directly limiting likely unworkable ineffective, more rational option might prescribe acceptable (e.g., quality, health, nutritional condition behavioral indicators), which together with positive economic balance company, allow estimate most suitable range each particular species, life-stage production systems.
