Aquaculture is the fastest-growing food production sector. However, it faces significant challenges, including demand from a growing global population, which estimated to reach 10.4 billion by year 2100, disease outbreaks, environmental impacts, and overuse of antibiotics. To address these issues, sustainable alternatives such as use microorganisms (probiotics, bacteriophages, genetically modified microorganisms) have gained attention. This review examines effects on fish aquaculture, focusing their potential improve growth, health, resistance while reducing impacts. Probiotics, particularly lactic acid bacteria yeasts, been shown enhance immune responses, digestive enzyme activity, nutrient absorption in fish. Bacteriophages offer promising alternative antibiotics for controlling bacterial pathogens, with studies demonstrating efficacy mortality rates infected Additionally, (GMMs) explored ability produce beneficial compounds, enzymes antimicrobial peptides, can health reduce need chemical treatments. Despite potential, challenges regulatory hurdles, public acceptance, risks must be addressed. highlights importance further research optimize aquaculture underscores role promoting practices. By integrating biological tools, industry move towards more environmentally friendly future.

To address the growing consumer demands for improved fish meat quality, desirable morphological traits, and sustainable production practices, researchers have intensified efforts in selective breeding genetic improvement of carp (Cyprinus carpio) varieties. However, traditional methods are often time-consuming inefficient, which poses challenges to development aquaculture industry. The establishment germ stem cell lines offers a crucial tool study cells, improvement, species conservation. In this study, we successfully established spermatogonial line (YRSSCs) from Yellow River carpio haematopterus) that can be cultured vitro long term. We optimized culture conditions maintain their self-renewal differentiation capabilities. results demonstrated YRSSCs diploid karyotype stably proliferate over year L-15 medium supplemented with 5 mmol/L HEPES, 50 μmol/L β-mercaptoethanol, 15% FBS, 2 ng/mL bFGF, LIF, 1% serum, 800 IU/mL penicillin, 0.8 mg/mL streptomycin, μg/mL amphotericin B, zebrafish embryo extract, glutamine at 30 °C absence CO2. cells exhibited typical gene expression profile, strong vasa, plzf-a, Oct4-a genes. Additionally, found possess ability differentiate functionally colonize vivo within recipient bodies. This research explored potential both vivo, providing novel strategy through cell-based editing transplantation technologies.
