Distant hybridization in fish typically involves the combination of genetic material from two distantly related species, creating new hybrids with substantial alterations both phenotypic traits and molecular genetics. In this study, we successfully produced a hybrid (BG) through intergeneric between blunt snout bream (Megalobrama amblycephala, BSB, 2n=48, ♀) green tip culter (Culter dabryi, GTC, ♂). We analyzed DNA content, chromosomal numbers, karyotypes, morphological traits, fertility, 5S rDNA, Sox genes, mitochondrial genome DNA, muscle nutritional composition GTC BG. The flow cytometry analysis demonstrated that BG was an allodiploid 48 chromosomes. Fertility revealed exhibited bisexual capable reproduction male female gametes. With regard to growth, possessed growth rate faster than GTC. Muscle indicated had higher levels crude protein umami amino acids its parents, it rich polyunsaturated fatty were beneficial human health. Genetic rDNA genomic predominantly inherited characteristics certain gene fragments derived speculating occurrence interactions heterologous genes. Additionally, Sox9 sequencing further suggested may have distinct sets material, one each parent. integration biparental elements hypothesized enhance BG's regulatory efficiency during developmental reproductive processes. conclusion, exhibits superior making promising germplasm resource for future breeding. Its potential applications are improvement development aquaculture.

Global warming poses significant challenges to aquaculture, as elevated water temperatures adversely affect fish health and survival. This study investigated the effects potential mechanisms of dietary tea polyphenols (TPs) on acute heat stress survival in hybrid crucian carp HCC2. The control (CON) group (HS group, three replicates, each containing 20 fish, n = 60 per group) were fed diets with 0 mg/kg TPs, experimental groups (HSLTP, HSMTP, HSHTP, × 3 replicates) 100, 200, or 400 TPs for days. Further, (HS, HSLTP, HSHTP) exposed at 38 °C 24 h induce stress. Survival data serum tissue samples collected analysis. Metabolomics using UPLC-Q-TOF/MS was employed evaluate metabolite changes livers. Notably, significantly improved rates antioxidant enzyme levels reduced ALT, AST, cortisol, glucose, MDA, liver HSP-70 heat-stressed fish. Metabolomic analysis revealed that modulated lipid metabolism, particularly glycerophospholipid arachidonic acid pathways, which may contribute a higher tolerance These findings suggest are promising, eco-friendly feed additive protecting from optimizing aquaculture practices.

To address the growing consumer demands for improved fish meat quality, desirable morphological traits, and sustainable production practices, researchers have intensified efforts in selective breeding genetic improvement of carp (Cyprinus carpio) varieties. However, traditional methods are often time-consuming inefficient, which poses challenges to development aquaculture industry. The establishment germ stem cell lines offers a crucial tool study cells, improvement, species conservation. In this study, we successfully established spermatogonial line (YRSSCs) from Yellow River carpio haematopterus) that can be cultured vitro long term. We optimized culture conditions maintain their self-renewal differentiation capabilities. results demonstrated YRSSCs diploid karyotype stably proliferate over year L-15 medium supplemented with 5 mmol/L HEPES, 50 μmol/L β-mercaptoethanol, 15% FBS, 2 ng/mL bFGF, LIF, 1% serum, 800 IU/mL penicillin, 0.8 mg/mL streptomycin, μg/mL amphotericin B, zebrafish embryo extract, glutamine at 30 °C absence CO2. cells exhibited typical gene expression profile, strong vasa, plzf-a, Oct4-a genes. Additionally, found possess ability differentiate functionally colonize vivo within recipient bodies. This research explored potential both vivo, providing novel strategy through cell-based editing transplantation technologies.
