Abstract Background Interprofessional education (IPE) is essential to foster collaboration among healthcare professionals for holistic patient care. However, Malaysian dental remains discipline-centric, hindering multidisciplinary learning approaches. Hence, this study aimed explore undergraduate students’ perceptions of IPE. Methods The present cross-sectional employed convenience sampling survey students from four institutions using a modified questionnaire with 20 close-ended and 2 open-ended questions. covered three domains (effectiveness, preference, importance) assess five-point Likert scale. Psychometric validation was performed assure validity reliability the questionnaire. Quantitative analysis (descriptive inferential statistics), qualitative (content analysis) were subsequently performed. Results 397 responded, positive generally noted mean scores ranging 4.13 4.35 across all domains. Questions 3, assessing improvement in understanding roles responsibilities, communication professionals, received highest scores. Meanwhile, Question 15 concerning incorporation IPE into educational goals lowest score. Regression identified gender clinical phase as significant factors, females preclinical exhibiting more favourable perceptions. Motivators included keen interest diverse perspectives recognising importance teamwork, while barriers encompassed tightly packed schedules, lack about IPE, misconceptions regarding education, nervousness fear participation. Conclusion This produced valid reliable instrument measure towards Strategic planning, such overcoming logistical challenges, improving awareness, creating supportive environment are crucial successful integration existing curricula, especially resource-constrained developing countries like Malaysia.

Interprofessional Education (IPE) has been advocated to prepare future healthcare professionals for collaborative practice improve the quality of patient care and overall health outcomes. The problem statement revolves around need bridge gap between traditional, silos education disciplines demands a modern ecosystem. Insufficient IPE can result in fragmented care, communication breakdowns suboptimal Thus, this study aimed investigate perceptions undergraduate clinical students from Malaysian higher institutions about (IPE). This was conducted among final-year programs, including nursing, Medical, Nursing, Pharmacy Health Sciences programs selected private public institutions. quantitative data analysed via descriptive statistics using Statistical Package Social (SPSS).
