We report the first measurements of hypoxic ventilatory response (HVR) after 2 days at high altitude using a CO rebreathing technique. evaluated mechanisms by which HVR becomes elevated with acclimatization (increased hypercapnic sensitivity in hypoxia, increased baseline respiratory drive or lower recruitment thresholds hypoxia). For time, we that decreases threshold hypoxia contribute to altitude.
