Unsteady pressure-pulsation-induced severe vibration and high alternating stress can cause some unexpected results, including impeller crack structural damage of the entire pumping system. In present paper, a review on pressure pulsations in pumps is carried out based published studies. A comprehensive view from several aspects discussed detail. The contents studies include mechanism rotor–stator interaction; prediction model experimental numerical investigations pulsations; unsteady rotating-stall-induced at off-design flow rates; relationship between pulsation internal structure cavitation; reduction caused by effective approaches. It concluded that closely associated with complex structures, for instance separation, cavitation, rotating stall. interaction mainly dominates characterized discrete components spectrum. To reduce pulsation, approaches are proposed, such as increasing gap, staggered blade, blade modification. Finally, suggestions future works given considering current research. contributes to better understanding centrifugal pumps, may also benefit engineers controlling fields, nuclear reactor.

To investigate the variations in flow field of centrifugal pumps with different cavitation numbers, this study utilized shear stress transport k–ω turbulence model and Zwart–Gerber–Belamri to examine correlation between stall vortices flow. The findings indicate that consistently coincides formation vortices, distribution mirrors pattern vortex structure. Cavitation tends develop aggregate around obstructing a significant portion inlet areas within channel. As number decreases, both area intensity increase. For cavitations margins σ = 0.41, 0.23, 0.15, we observed propagation frequencies at fs 2.7, 1.8, 0.9 Hz respectively, as these decrease relative impeller movement until reaching near-stationary states. pressure pulsations various channels exhibit distinct phase differences; smaller cavity numbers result larger disparities along gradual reduction pulsation amplitude. These discoveries present effective strategies for controlling reducing fluctuations pumps, thereby enhancing overall stability.
