Abstract Understanding the drivers of speciation is fundamental in evolutionary biology, and recent studies highlight hybridization as a potential facilitator adaptive radiations. Using whole-genome sequencing data from 22 species guenons (tribe Cercopithecini), one world’s largest primate radiations, we show that rampant gene flow characterizes their history, identify ancient across deeply divergent lineages differing ecology, morphology karyotypes. Lineages experiencing tend to be more species-rich than non-admixed lineages. Mitochondrial transfers between distant were likely facilitated by co-introgression co-adapted nuclear variants. Although genomic landscapes introgression largely lineage specific, found genes with immune functions overrepresented introgressing regions, line introgression, whereas involved pigmentation may contribute reproductive isolation. This study provides important insights into prevalence, role outcomes ancestral large mammalian radiation.

ABSTRACT Hybrid zones – locations where genetically distinct lineages interact and reproduce are remarkable resources for exploring the evolutionary trajectory of species. Not only can we learn from hybrid about mechanisms speciation how reproductive isolation is maintained, but also study their impact on processes. Abstract Pleistocene climatic oscillations exerted significant influences on the genetic structure and demography of rhesus macaque ( Macaca mulatta ) in eastern China. However, evolutionary history macaques subtropical temperate China remained unclear and/or controversial. Herein, we analyzed autosomes, mitochondrial genomes, Y‐chromosomes from 84 individuals Chinese macaque. The results revealed that (1) all were clustered into pan‐west pan‐east groups, which exhibited Shaanxi Province as northernmost region western dispersal route China; (2) China, divided four lineages (TH, DB, HS, QL), their divergence times corresponded to Penultimate Glaciation (300–130 kya) Last (70–10 kya), respectively; (3) Mt. Taihangshan (TH) are closely related Dabashan (DB) autosomal tree, rather than Huangshan (HS) indicated by mitogenome supports hypothesis ancestral radiated via Dabashan; (4) demographic scenario showed bottleneck expansion corresponding suitable habitat reduction expansion, confirmed they had experienced northward recolonization southward retreat events area Northern Plain Northernmost along with glacial cycles. This study provides a new insight understanding how glaciation has influenced faunal diversity especially for those exhibiting differential patterns sex dispersal.

Owing to the taxonomic incongruence between morphological features and genetic relationships of sinica group macaques (genus Macaca), taxonomy this macaque has remained inconclusive. We aimed resolve quandary improve our understanding historical biogeography by including DNA samples from previously unsampled areas in Himalayas. sequenced analyzed three mitochondrial loci [cytochrome b (CYTB), cytochrome oxidase subunit 1 (COI) D-loop; 2898 bp] for sequence polymorphism, phylogenetics, species delimitation, ancestral area reconstruction. confirmed occurrence Arunachal (Macaca munzala) on southern slopes Eastern Himalayas Xizang Zizhiqu (Tibet Autonomous Region) China. The results revealed that is a parapatric composed seven distinct species. Phylogenetic delimitation analyses two considered subspecies Assamese (the eastern M. assamensis western a. pelops) are sister Tibetan macaque, whereas closest underwent five vicariance dispersal radiations past, which mainly coincided with Quaternary climatic oscillations late Pliocene Pleistocene. By integrating phylogenetic reconstruction findings previous paleontological molecular studies, we propose robust hypothesis about phylogeography macaques.

Abstract Hybridization is a prominent and influential phenomenon with significant implications for adaptive evolution, species distribution biodiversity. However, the intricacies of how hybridization influences genomic structure facilitates evolution still elude our full understanding. Analyzing whole genome data from seven populations within Eriocheir genus across diverse geographic regions, we have validated complex history between Chinese Japanese mitten crabs. This gave rise to two distinct ecological species: Hepu Russian crabs unique architectures adaptations. Genes related reproduction, development, temperature adaptation exhibit divergent selection signals, potentially contributing their phenotypic diversity niches. Meanwhile, genes associated namely Birc6 , Bap31 Poxn displayed robust evidence selective sweeps in crab. Notably, favored alleles these originated parental lineages during process. Furthermore, crab homoploid hybrid that an ancient event, resolving its longstanding taxonomic controversy. Our study sheds light on evolutionary highlights crucial role driving adaptation, range expansion, diversification Eriochier genus.

Abstract Understanding the variations in gene expression between species is pivotal for deciphering evolutionary diversity phenotypes. Rhesus macaques and crab-eating serve as crucial nonhuman primate biomedical models with different phenotypes, but large-scale of comparative transcriptome research these two has yet to be fully elucidated. Here, we conduct systematic comparisons utilizing newly sequenced RNA-seq data from 84 samples encompassing 14 common tissues. Our findings reveal that a small fraction genes (∼3.7%) show differential macaque species, while ∼36.5% tissue-specific both macaques. We also compare humans ∼22.6 % orthologous at least 2 Moreover, ∼19.41% overlapped macaque-specific structural variants are more likely Of these, FAM220A shows elevated compared because lineage-specific duplication. In summary, our study presents analysis transcriptomes within humans. These insights into will enhance utility contributing broader realm genomic studies.
