Spatial variations of atmospheric alkylated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (Alk-PAHs) are key to understanding their long-range transport (LRAT). However, limited Alk-PAHs data have hindered LRAT characterizations on a global scale. In this study, 49 were measured in the samples collected across Western Pacific Southern Ocean. The summed concentration 39 frequently detected (Σ39Alk-PAHs) was 25.8 ± 25.3 ng m-3. concentrations Σ39Alk-PAHs significantly declined with decrease latitude (°N). Higher (55.8 33.8 m-3) linked continental air mass compared oceanic/Antarctica (17.0 13.6 m-3), highlighting emissions as primary source marine Alk-PAHs. An unexpected increase G/P partitioning ratio (KP) found farther away from continent, which cannot be explained by influence temperature process. Deposition analysis suggested that gaseous and largely influenced deposition patterns. Hypothetical scenario indicated increased KP under snowy conditions could enhance total Alk-PAH deposition. These findings emphasize need for accurate characterization processes when studying fate Alk-PAHs, particularly remote polar regions.

Large-scale oceanic assessments are key for determining the persistence and long-range transport potential of organic pollutants, but there is a dearth these organophosphate esters (OPEs), widely used as flame retardants plasticizers. Human activities generate a large amount of environmental pollutants, including drugs and agricultural industrial chemicals that are released into the air, water, soil. Environmental pollutants can enter food animals through contaminated feed posing risks to human health via chain. Physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling is used predict target organ dosimetry informing risk assessment. However, there lack critical reviews concerning PBPK models for in last several years (2020-2024). This review part series focusing on applications inform safety assessments. Part I focused veterinary drugs. The present article II focuses chemicals, pesticides, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), bisphenols, per- polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). discusses existing challenges developing shares our perspectives future directions, combinations vitro vivo extrapolation (IVIVE), machine learning artificial intelligence, read-across approaches, quantitative pharmacodynamic enhance potential assessing safety.
