Abstract Achieving adhesion under unfavorable conditions, such as when van der Waals interaction is not available or in dust environments, crucial applications ranging from surgical sutures to wound‐healing tapes, underwater adhesives, robotic grippers, and space grasping. Interestingly, plants, animals, microorganisms living environmental conditions show surface morphological traits optimized achieve mechanical interlocking. Thus, they an effective work of thanks the interplay friction interfacially‐storable elastic energy, which otherwise typically suppress adhesion. In this work, design fabrication fundamentals for achieving tunable, switchable, robust provided a general condition, wet dusty, bio‐mimicking natural solutions. A theoretical framework adhesion, based on mean‐field continuum contact mechanics, suggested validated experimentally. This study can pave way development new technologies be employed situations where conventional adhesives may ineffective, surfaces exposed water, solvent vapors, lubricants, high temperatures, dusty vacuum, aerospace applications, processes switching selective needed grasping sorting semiconductor industry.

Alignment of liquid crystals (LCs) is critical for actuation LC polymer‐based devices. A common strategy to induce surface deformation in polymer coatings involves engineering the polymers into multidomain configurations. The application an electric field serves as efficient means achieve this goal. While LCs are partially ordered fluids characterized by intrinsic dynamic disorder and order fluctuations, these fluctuations can be suppressed fields, a phenomenon known electrical quenching. However, impact quenching on molecular behavior remains insufficiently understood. Herein, translation effect from scale macroscopic level, with focus regulating topographical polymerized coatings, demonstrated. findings reveal that suppression monomeric through significantly reduces network. This advancement offers new opportunities fabricating tunable surfaces complex patterns, broadening potential applications LC‐based surfaces.
