Single-cell sequencing (SCS) is a powerful new tool for investigating evolution and diversity in cancer understanding the role of rare cells tumor progression. These methods have begun to unravel key questions biology that been difficult address with bulk measurements. Over past five years, there has extraordinary progress technological developments research applications, but these efforts represent only tip iceberg. In coming SCS will greatly improve our invasion, metastasis, therapy resistance during tools also direct translational applications clinic, areas such as early detection, noninvasive monitoring, guiding targeted therapy. this perspective, I discuss made myriad unexplored still lie ahead medicine.
