Vibrio vulnificus (V. vulnificus) is a Gram-negative, halophilic bacillus known for causing severe infections such as gastroenteritis, necrotizing fasciitis, and septic shock, with mortality rates exceeding 50% in high-risk individuals. Transmission occurs primarily through the consumption of contaminated seafood, exposure open wounds to infected water, or, rare cases, insect bites. The bacterium thrives warm, brackish waters high salinity levels, its prevalence rising due effects climate change, including warming ocean temperatures expanding coastal habitats. High-risk populations include individuals underlying conditions chronic liver disease, diabetes, or immunosuppression, which heighten susceptibility outcomes. pathogenicity V. mediated by an array virulence factors, hemolysins, proteases, capsular polysaccharides, well mechanisms facilitating iron acquisition immune system evasion. Clinical manifestations range from localized gastrointestinal symptoms life-threatening systemic septicemia. Rare but complications, pneumonia meningitis, have also been reported. Treatment typically involves use doxycycline combination third-generation cephalosporins, although emergence multidrug-resistant strains escalating concern. Alternative therapeutic approaches under investigation natural compounds resveratrol application antimicrobial blue light. For infections, prompt aggressive surgical intervention remains essential improving patient As global continue rise, understanding epidemiology developing innovative strategies are critical mitigating growing public health impact.

Access to safe drinking water is essential for preventing waterborne diseases and ensuring public health, particularly in refugee camps, where overcrowding inadequate sanitation pose significant risks. Contaminated remains a major health concern, contributing outbreaks of diarrheal other infectious diseases. This study assesses the bacteriological quality from sources point use identifies associated factors influencing contamination Alemwach Refugee Camp, Dabat District, Northwest Ethiopia. A laboratory-supported cross-sectional was conducted among refugees by collecting total 435 samples (10 reservoir, 2 stand well, 1 sample deep 422 household storage containers) analysis. Additionally, data were collected respondents using structured interviewer-based questionnaires through observation that assessed related water. Binary multiple logistic regression analyses performed find factors, variables with p-value 0.05 considered statistically variables. revealed 33.3% groundwater, 30% reservoirs, 78.9% contaminated fecal coliform. The sanitary risk score indicates high-level 66.7% groundwater 54.5% containers, representing medium score. Educational status, home-based treatment practice, type container, cleanliness types facility, animal contact households significantly at use. reveals substantial coliform water, level, indicating high Camp. influenced including education, facilities, treatment, contact, container cleanliness. To improve quality, targeted interventions such as promoting storage, enhancing practices, improving infrastructure, conducting community education programs on hygiene safety are recommended. Regular monitoring assessment should also be strengthened ensure sustainable access

Organic molecules exuded into water column by marine organisms represent a significant portion of dissolved organic matter (DOM) that modulates biochemical interactions. Secreted allelochemicals have been suggested to be involved in regulation pathogen abundance seagrass meadows, however, exometabolome has remained unstudied. We aimed identify exometabolites, within and outside explore their potential involvement suppression under varying environmental conditions. collected seawater (SW) samples from eelgrass (Zostera marina)-vegetated (V) non-vegetated (NV) areas across 5 locations spanning 270 km coastline along the German Baltic Sea. Comparative LC-MS/MS-based untargeted computational metabolomics combined with statistical analyses machine learning tools were employed pinpoint (exo)metabolomic signatures leaves. Simultaneously, we measured abiotic parameters three common pathogenic taxa seawater, investigated spatiotemporal variations. Here show correlation biomass reduction effect increasing temperature, eutrophication anthropogenic influences. Exometabolomics studies revealed exudates contributed significantly overall DOM at molecular level, while SW overlying meadows contained many chemical features unique leaf metabolome. identified four flavone aglycones as key biomarkers distinguishing SW-V SW-NV samples. Their drastically increased concentrations correlated lowest biomass, suggesting role regulation. These analytical microbiological approaches indicate flavones are defensive released upon stress serve bioindicators eelgrass' sanitation effect.
