Introduction: Cascade hydropower development significantly alters the structure and function of river ecosystems. Phytoplankton, as primary producers, are highly sensitive to environmental changes, their diversity community reflect state water environment. While there is extensive research on how changes in environments affect phytoplankton structure, studies spatial distribution patterns assembly mechanisms relation hydraulic residence time (HRT)—a key characteristic reservoirs—are limited. Methods: Linear regression analysis was used examine relationship between communities HRT. Additionally, Neutral Community Model (NCM) combined with Modified Stochasticity Ratio (MST) employed reveal types these cascade reservoirs. Finally, Mantel tests stepwise assessed specific impacts factors communities. Results: In ecosystem Yellow River reservoirs, HRT positively correlated abundance across different seasons. annual regulation stations (LJX LYX), species richness, abundance, indices higher compared those runoff stations. Discussion: The primarily driven by deterministic processes, station being more influenced processes than station. HRT, temperature (WT), total nitrogen (TN) most significant affecting structural differences There a positive correlation temperature, especially short where impacted temperature.

Freshwater biodiversity has been declining in urban areas, which may threaten ecosystem functions. Although many studies have demonstrated a positive correlation between and functioning (BEF) terrestrial marine ecosystems, little is known about the BEF relationship freshwater environments, especially highly urbanized regions where water pollution major concern. Eutrophication bodies trigger algae blooms, decreasing evenness or functional divergence (FDiv) of phytoplankton communities, thus negatively affecting functioning. Through an annual field investigation, we clarified diversity functioning, represented as resource use efficiency (RUE), river northern China. Results indicated that community contributes most to driving compared environmental factors. The relative abundance dominant Bacillariophyta was positively correlated with (RUEpp) but zooplankton (RUEzp). Both were linked RUEpp RUEzp. Our findings suggest reduction seriously its potential mechanism can provide crucial reference for quality protection sustainable utilization basin.

Anthropogenic stresses are intensively affecting the structure and function of microbial communities in coastal ecosystems. Despite being essential components ecosystems, environmental influences assembly processes protist remain largely unknown areas with severe disturbance. Here, we used 18S rRNA gene high-throughput sequencing to compare composition, process, functional from Northern Yellow Sea (NYS) Eastern Bohai (EBS). These two separated by Liaodong Peninsula experience different anthropogenic due varying degrees urbanization. We detected significant differences between areas. Environmental geographic factors both influenced composition communities, playing a greater role. The neutral community model indicated that was governed deterministic processes, stochastic having stronger influence EBS area compared NYS area. phototrophic consumer factors, differed significantly Our results provide insights into biogeography estuaries under stresses, which may inform future management.

ABSTRACTThe research aims to determine the structure of plankton community in waters Gampong Peunaga Cut Ujong, Meureubo, Meulaboh, West Aceh. The study was conducted September 2023. collection point consisted 3 stations, and sampling carried out at high tide with three repetitions. filtering process uses a net mesh size 30 µm. Phytoplankton location consists five classes, namely Cyanophyceae, Euglenophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Bacillariophyceae, Dinophyceae. Meanwhile, zooplankton 7 groups consisting Protozoa, Rotifera, Crustacea, Polychaeta, Gastropoda, Pelecypoda, Nematoda. has highest percentage Bacillariophyceae class, reaching 71.7%, lowest 1% (Dinophyceae, Chlorophyceae). abundance phytoplankton station during ranged between 2,025,600 cells/m3 - 6,710,400 range 23,400 ind/m3 33,480 ind/m3. average diversity index (H') for 1.04, uniformity (E) 0.40, dominance (C) 0.50. values H' (1.42), E (0.65), D (0.36). To maintain estuary area as an ideal buffer area, it is recommended regularly monitor aquatic biota (plankton, benthos, fish). Keywords: ecosystem, structure, index, Navicula sp.
