Abstract Background Exposures associated with mpox infection remain imperfectly understood. Methods We conducted a case-control study enrolling participants who received molecular tests for mpox/orthopoxvirus in California from November 2022 through June 2023. collected data on behaviors during 21-day risk period before symptom onset or testing among case patients and test-negative controls. Results Thirteen of 54 (24.1%) 5 117 controls (4.3%) reported sexual exposure to individuals they identified as potential (“index contacts”; odds ratio [OR], 7.7 [95% confidence interval (CI), 2.5–19.3] relative did not report patients). Among these participants, 10 13 (76.9%) 2 (40.0%) that their index contacts were experiencing symptoms visible sex (OR, 14.9 CI, 3.6–101.8]). Only 3 (5.6%) symptomatic contacts. Abstract Background The 2022 monkeypox (mpox) outbreak in Los Angeles County (LAC) emphasized the need to prepare for emergent infectious disease outbreaks. Vaccination and promotion of sexual risk reduction practices appeared successful LAC, as mpox cases declined starting August. Nonetheless, questions persisted regarding effectiveness targeting vaccinations role reducing cases. Methods We collaborated with LAC Department Public Health develop a microsimulation men who have sex (MSM). This model tracked dynamics by age, race/ethnicity, HIV status was calibrated validated against surveillance data. simulated counterfactual scenarios understand effects variation vaccination rates, timing rollout, vaccine allocation, contact rates. Results In simulation, doubling rate reduced cumulative over 40-week time horizon 13% but would necessitate 88 995 additional doses. Initiating 2 weeks earlier decreased 11%, while an 8-week delay yielded 20% increase A 3-week decrease rates 60%, resulted 95% increase. Prioritizing people (PWH) cases, allocating vaccines single racial/ethnic group not effective. Conclusions Our study highlights significance policies support timely partnership address outbreaks among MSM. These findings also underscore target vulnerable groups, such PWH.

Media literacy plays an increasingly important role in health communication during public emergencies. The present study aimed to investigate the level of media and its association with disease perceptions behavioral intentions receiving vaccination services among young men who have sex (YMSM) China 2022 multi-country mpox outbreak. data were from a large-scale cross-sectional survey conducted 2,493 YMSM aged 18-29 years six provincial regions September 2022. BACKGROUND Self-efficacy in mpox prevention plays a pivotal role promoting preventive behaviors by fostering sense of control and motivation, especially among men who have sex with (MSM), the population most affected many countries. OBJECTIVE This study aims to assess self-efficacy MSM China identify factors influencing it, using validated Mpox Prevention Self-Efficacy Scale. METHODS From November 2023 March 2024, nationwide cross-sectional was conducted across six geographic regions snowball sampling method. The Scale assessed for reliability validity. Univariate multivariate logistic regression were employed examine associated MSM. RESULTS Among 2,403 participants, median score 23.00 (IQR = 5.00). demonstrated good internal consistency (α > 0.80) strong model fit (χ² (N 1,225; DF 5) 32.080, P < 0.0001; CFI 0.992; RMSEA 0.067; SRMR 0.02). Logistic analysis indicated that significantly mpox-related knowledge (OR 1.107, 95% CI 1.070–1.146), perceived risk awareness 1.338, 1.132–1.583), perception 1.154, 1.066–1.250). Individuals over 25 years old exhibited lower (25–34 years: OR 0.789, 0.642–0.970; 35–44 0.572, 0.444–0.736; 45 older: 0.569, 0.394–0.823). CONCLUSIONS These findings underscore importance targeted interventions aimed at enhancing bolstering knowledge, awareness, perception. Such initiatives are particularly crucial middle-aged older individuals counteract age-related decline self-efficacy. Strengthening through these efforts is essential sustained mental well-being. Ultimately, can contribute meaningfully reducing transmission improving overall health community.
