Introduction. Due to limited information on mental health in rural areas, this study innovates by applying validated tools previously unused Honduras assess levels of anxiety and depression among residents Ojojona, Honduras. Background Latin American youth have a high prevalence of mental health disorders and face major socioeconomic public safety problems. This study assesses the association between stressful life events (SLEs) depression, anxiety, quality among adolescents young adults from deprived neighbourhoods America. Methods The sample consisted 2,402 participants, (15–16 years) (20–24 years), Bogotá (Colombia), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Lima (Peru), assessed in 2021–2022 recruited education community settings social media. We evaluated most frequent recent distant SLEs (occurred previous year more than ago, respectively), relationship severity depression (PHQ-8), anxiety (GAD-7), (MANSA), we tested for differences by gender age group. Suicidal ideation (SI) poses a significant global health concern, particularly among hospitalized individuals, with gaps in understanding its contributing factors low and middle-income countries like Peru. Using cross-sectional design, this study examined 940 patients evaluated by the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Unit at major Peruvian general hospital. Sociodemographic clinical characteristics were assessed, employing standardized instruments such as Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), General Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7), Questionnaire-15 (PHQ-15), Clinical Global Impressions (CGI). The prevalence of SI associations explored through bivariate multivariate analyses. was 19.7%, notable found experiencing moderate-to-severe depression (36.8%) those rated moderately to severely ill on CGI (33.2%). Multivariate analysis confirmed these associations, highlighting link retirement (aPR = 1.53, 95% CI 1.04-2.26, p 0.032), severity 1.41, 1.22-1.63, < 0.0001), depressive symptoms 2.98, 2.13-4.17, 0.0001) SI. This provides insights into associated patients. Identifying risk factors, retirement, severity, symptoms, underscores need for targeted interventions address within hospital setting.
