Abstract Background Numerous studies have investigated the relevance of callous-unemotional traits in relation to externalizing psychopathology among children and adolescents. However, less research has examined connections between internalizing findings were inconsistent. Consequently, present study aimed elucidate role context depression anxiety while controlling for conduct problems, age, gender. Methods The utilized self-report questionnaire data from 978 adolescent psychiatric inpatients ( M age = 15.18, SD 1.44) presenting a range psychopathological conditions. A network analysis was conducted, incorporating traits, depressive symptoms, covariates (age, gender). Additionally, comparisons made networks diagnosed with disorders those disorders. Results indicated that relevant within general network, as well both disorder networks. In contexts, predominately positively associated problems. Within exhibited primarily negative associations anxiety, whereas relationships more varied. Conclusions Our suggest hold substantial supporting notion these should be considered potentially transdiagnostic factors.

Background Dynamic interpersonal therapy (DIT) is a short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy that has been shown to effectively reduce depressive symptoms in patients with major disorder (MDD). In DIT, the are formulated as responses impaired mentalisation. DIT aims alleviate by improving mentalising. Aims This study aimed examine effect of on mentalising and mediating changes symptoms. Methods Outpatients received either combined antidepressant medication treatment (DIT group) or alone (ADM for 16 weeks. The Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD), Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ) Reflective Functioning (RFQ) were used. intention-to-treat principle, mixed linear models, multiple imputation, Pearson’s correlation analysis mediation conducted. per-protocol principle was used sensitivity analysis. Results group had significantly lower HAMD (least-squares (LS) mean difference=−3.756, p<0.001), PHQ (LS difference=−4.188, uncertainty about mental states RFQ (RFQ-U, LS difference=−2.116, p<0.001) higher certainty (RFQ-C, difference=2.214, p=0.028) scores than ADM at post-treatment. change RFQ-C marginally correlated (r=−0.218, p corrected =0.09). RFQ-U (r=0.269, =0.024) (r=0.343, <0.001). When using variable dependent variable, significant found (p=0.043, 95% confidence interval 0.024 1.453). Conclusions yielded better outcomes compared reducing Improvements associated reductions These findings support may contribute therapeutic effects MDD.

Depression and anxiety are prevalent psychological challenges among patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), affecting individuals across both sex age groups. To explore the network structure of depression symptoms, a focus on identifying differences at symptom level between subgroups. A total 1955 participants diagnosed AIS aged 10-18 years were assessed using Patient Health Questionnaire Scale (PHO-9) Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7), 765 exhibiting PHQ-9 or GAD-7 scores ≥ 5 enrolled in our study. Network analysis comparison tests utilized to construct compare depression-anxiety symptoms networks The results revealed GAD3 "Excessive worry" PHQ2 "Sad mood" most significant central all subgroups, while had higher strength than lower group. In comparisons, female exhibited tighter connectivity, especially GAD6 "Irritability" GAD2 "Uncontrollable worry", only PHQ3 "Sleep" PHQ9 "Suicidal ideation" local Several interventions targeting excessive worry sad mood could reduce risk population. Furthermore, specific females, along sleep disturbances suicidal ideation group, should be addressed an early stage prevent disruptions mental health trajectories.

Background Depression and anxiety are prevalent mental health issues among older adult widowed adults. However, the symptom-level relationships between these conditions remain unclear. Due to high correlations complex various symptoms, this study employs network analysis explore differences in structures of depression symptoms non-widowed Methods Propensity score matching was used identify adults with similar demographic characteristics. Data from 1,736 matched controls were analyzed using Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (2017–2018). measured by Center for Epidemiologic Studies Scale-10 (CESD-10) seven-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7), respectively. Central bridge evaluated expected influence (EI) (BEI), Results Network revealed similarities central adults, both groups exhibiting “Feeling depressed or down” (CESD3), tense having difficulty relaxing” (GAD4), “Being unable stop control worrying” (GAD2) as core symptoms. emerged In group, anxious, worried, distressed” (GAD1) most strongly connected “Felt lonely” (CESD8); “Worrying too much about things” (GAD3) linked increasingly exhausted useless age” (CESD4); (CESD3) had a strong association “Becoming easily annoyed irritable” (GAD6). exhibited strongest “Having good sleep quality” (CESD10); “Getting upset over small matters” (CESD1) closely (GAD1); (CESD3). Conclusion Common highlight universal intervention targets. Addressing may help prevent depression-anxiety comorbidity. These findings support targeted interventions improve outcomes. Future research should evaluate tailored effectiveness.

The effect of a high-fat diet (HFD) on mood is widely debated topic, with the underlying mechanisms being poorly understood. This study explores anxiolytic effects four-week HFD in C57BL/6 mice. Five-week-old mice were exposed to either an (60% calories from fat) or standard chow (CD) for four weeks, followed by cannula implantation, virus infusion, behavioral tests, and biochemical assays. Results revealed that weeks induced anxiolytic-like behaviors increased protein levels mature brain-derived neurotrophic factor (mBDNF) phosphorylated tyrosine kinase receptor B (p-TrkB) medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC). Administration BDNF-neutralizing antibody mPFC reversed HFD-induced behaviors. Elevated BDNF observed both neurons astrocytes Additionally, these exhibited higher number dendritic spines mPFC, as well upregulation postsynaptic density 95 (PSD95). Furthermore, mRNA N6-methyladenosine (m6A) demethylase, fat mass obesity-associated (FTO), hydrolase matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP9), also mPFC. These findings suggest may induce FTO MMP9, which could potentially regulate processing, contributing proposes potential molecular underlie
