Health-promotion interventions incorporating wearable technology or eHealth apps can encourage participants to self-monitor and modify their physical activity sedentary behavior. In 2020, a Calgary (Alberta, Canada) recreational facility developed implemented health-promotion intervention (Vivo Play Scientist program) that provided commercially available tracker customized dashboard free of cost. The aim this study was independently evaluate the effectiveness Vivo program for modifying behavior during initial 8 weeks piloted intervention. Our concurrent mixed methods included single-arm repeated-measures quasiexperiment semistructured interviews. Among 318 eligible (≥18 years age) registered program, 87 completed three self-administered online surveys (baseline, T0; 4 weeks, T1; T2). The survey captured activity, behavior, use apps, sociodemographic characteristics. Twenty-three were recruited using maximal-variation sampling telephone-administered interviews regarding experiences. Self-reported outcomes statistically compared among time points Friedman tests. Thematic analysis used analyze interview data. The mean age 39.8 (SD 7.4) 75% (65/87) women. Approximately half all had previously (40/87, 46%) an app (43/87, 49%) prior intervention. Background Recent studies report that the health benefits of physical activity differ depending on whether is performed in morning, afternoon or evening. The purpose this systematic review was to examine timing within 24-hour day associated with health. Methods Five databases were searched for English French language peer-reviewed examined No limits placed publication year, study population, design outcomes. Studies acute effects around food intake excluded. Results This 35 studies, 17 259 participants, and following outcomes: measures sleep health, adiposity, fat-free mass muscle size, cardiometabolic biomarkers, function mobility, mental risk cardiovascular disease, cancer, mortality. Heterogeneity across precluded meta-analyses, we present our findings using narrative syntheses. Of 11 reported morning provides greater than afternoon/ evening activity, while 12 found fewer afternoon/evening physical. The evidence that cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) predicts morbidity and mortality independent of commonly obtained risk factors is beyond dispute. Observations establishing the addition CRF to algorithms for estimating cardiovascular disease reinforces clinical utility CRF. Evidence suggesting non-exercise estimations are associated with all-cause provides an opportunity obtain estimates in a cost-effective manner. Together observation substantially improved response exercise consistent guideline recommendations underscores position should be included as routine measure across all health care settings. Here we provide brief overview support this position.
