Modal identification of bridges based on the responses moving vehicles, termed as indirect method, has drawn much attention in recent years. This method been proven to be capable identifying bridge frequencies and mode shapes feasibility research. However, presence additional factors such vehicle speed road surface roughness, it is difficult identify high-order high-resolution bridge. The authors previously proposed a tractor-double-trailers model time–domain subtraction obtain relative displacement two trailers for modal identification. In this study, develop methodology improve performance by combining EMD technique time–frequency analysis method. applied separate multi-source response signals signal component that contains only vibration. Then, different methods short-time Fourier transform (STFT), Wigner–Ville distribution (WVD), continuous wavelet (CWT) are adopted construct shapes. Numerical studies with one-dimensional three-dimensional models conducted verify investigate effects factors. Finally, laboratory test implemented scaled results show able frequency frequencies, which facilitates from dynamic vehicles. Meanwhile, CWT performs best among three methods.
