In office buildings, an efficient design of windows and using light shelves as a passive strategy significantly influence the thermal visual comfort occupants while enhancing productivity health users. This study proposes multi-objective optimization for optimal in buildings to improve occupants' comfort. Initially, parametric model was developed Grasshopper software. Afterward, Honeybee energy daylight plugin employed simulating conditions, finally, conducted with Octopus plugin. can determine best solution compromise decision maximizing this paper, building Tehran has been chosen case study. The variables are window-to-wall ratio (WWR), shading control strategy, viewpoint, transmission glass, shelf length, height. objective functions annual average Predicted Percentage Dissatisfied (PPD) Discomfort Glare Probability (DGP). According results, proposed leads 18.5–70.1% 9.3–57.1% reduction DGP PPD indexes, respectively. findings provide practical useful instruction architects select specifications develop buildings.

Glare is a kind of physiological phenomenon that influences occupants’ visual comfort. Discomfort glare scenes in comparison to other levels have been difficult estimate and need accurate reliable metrics. In contemporary architecture, the glass façade so popular since it can remarkably minimize energy consumption buildings maximize daylight utilization as natural energy. However, necessary consider discomfort due daylighting risks during initial stage design. Since measured metrics should an acceptable correlation with human subject data study, agreement on indices complicated. This paper presents between subjective simulation-based analysis offices light shelf system. The considered this study include Daylight Index (DGI), CIE (CGI), Visual Comfort Probability (VCP), Unified Rating (UGR), (DGP). parallel was conducted by using simulation questionnaire surveys determine which criteria are more useful under different conditions. According findings, DGP yields most results based VCP has lowest accuracy each stage. UGR also highest rate for evaluating perceptible glare, DGI applicable assessing imperceptible CGI be index approximating intolerable glare. significantly reduce complexity problem provide guidance designers select metric climatic
