To examine the changes in obesity-related hormones and metabolic syndrome markers male high school students with obesity following a weekend-focused moderate- or high-intensity exercise program at recommended weekly physical activity level, of regular 3 times week moderate intensity, over 10-week period. Forty-eight who were obese body fat percentage ≥ 25% randomly assigned to one three groups: moderate-intensity group (n= 17) that freely selected performed aerobic resistance training exercises, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, for total 150–300 min/wk; 15) exercises Saturday min; 16) Sunday 75–150 min. Insulin leptin levels significantly decreased all groups, greatest reduction group. Abdominal circumference triglyceride groups. Fasting glucose only High-density lipoprotein cholesterol increased both No significant differences adiponectin levels, systolic diastolic blood pressure observed between A has health effects similar those exercise, highlighting importance meeting levels.

The guidelines provided by the World Health Organization (WHO) recommend a minimum of 150 min/week moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) for optimal overall health benefits. However, it remains unclear whether there are differential effects on risk incident type 2 diabetes (T2D) between concentrated and evenly distributed (PA) patterns. We aimed to investigate associations accelerometer-derived weekend warrior regularly active pattern with T2D. A total 84,656 general participants from UK Biobank validated accelerometry data free T2D was included. Data PA collected using Axivity AX3 wrist-based triaxial accelerometer worn one week. Participants were categorized into three patterns: inactive (< MVPA), (≥ ≥ 50% MVPA occurring within 1–2 days), but not meeting criteria). During median follow-up 8.4 years, 2464 cases documented. In multivariable-adjusted models, (hazard ratio [HR] 0.75; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.67–0.84) (HR 0.80, CI 0.69–0.94) exhibited comparable lower compared physically participants. When stratified genetic score (PRS) T2D, associated in higher PRS group 0.78, 0.67–0.91), intermediate 0.62–0.97) lowest 0.59, 0.43–0.80). Engaging is similarly pattern, even among individuals high risk. These findings highlight as significant flexible alternative preventive intervention strategies particularly those unable maintain daily routines.

To accommodate the fast-paced nature of modern life, "Weekend Warriors (WW)" has emerged as a novel physical activity (PA) indicator. This study aims to investigate relationship between WW and other PA patterns with hypertension, thereby addressing significant research gap. Data from 30,697 participants in National Health Nutrition Examination Survey conducted 2007 2018 were analyzed. We employed multiple regression analyses examine relationships among WW, patterns, duration, intensity, data stratified by various characteristics. Results showed that compared inactive group, insufficiently pattern (OR = 0.9, 95% CI 0.8, 1.0), group 0.7, 1.1), regularly active 0.9) all negatively associated showing trend towards reduced prevalence hypertension (P for < 0.01). association was particularly evident middle-aged older adults aged 41–80 years. Additionally, total moderate-to-vigorous (MVPA) time, well moderate vigorous "L"-shaped "U"-shaped inflection points at 2640 MET minutes, 45%, 62%, respectively. Our provides insights selecting suitable but indicates need further research.

The "Weekend Warrior (WW)" physical activity (PA) pattern, involving intensive exercise on 1-2 days per week, has become increasingly popular. WW PA pattern demonstrates protective effects against a broad spectrum of chronic diseases; however, regarding comprehensive investigation into the disease-specific mechanisms and long-term health outcomes subject, it remains unclear. exhibits various there is conspicuous scarcity literature investigating its across different disease conditions. objective this meta-epidemiology study was to exam WW's by synthesizing data from published observational studies. A systematic search conducted databases including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library Web Science through February 19, 2025. focused studies reporting association between outcomes, cardiovascular diseases, mortality, metabolic syndrome, mental health, compared inactive individuals. Odds ratios (ORs) were pooled using random-effects models. Subgroup analyses performed investigate with ORs factors, such as sex, type, assessment. Twenty-seven encompassing 1,204,486 participants included. analysis indicated that significantly reduced risk CVD mortality (OR = 0.742, 95% CI: 0.568-0.968), I2 71.3%, P 0.028). Additionally, showed lower risks disorders syndrome. associated significant benefits, This may be viable alternative for individuals unable engage in daily activity.
