Abstract Wave separation analysis (WSA) reveals the impact of forward- and backward-running waves on arterial pressure pulse, but calculations require a flow waveform. This study investigated (1) variability ascending aortic waveform in children adolescents with/without childhood heart disease history (CHD); (2) accuracy WSA obtained with representative (RepFlow), compared triangulation method published ultrasound-derived adult flow; (3) limitations Doppler ultrasound WSA; (4) generalizability results to adults CHD. Phase contrast MRI was performed youth without ( n = 45, Group 1, 10–19 years) CHD 79, 2, 7–18 years), 29, 3, 19–59 years). Segmented cross-sectional area used as surrogate for central WSA. A subject-specific virtual data by extracting velocities from sample volume. Time/amplitude-normalized waveforms were highly consistent amongst all groups. RepFlow therefore yielded errors < 10% groups reflected wave magnitude return time. Absolute typically 1.5–3 times greater other methods, including (best-case/virtual) ultrasound, which velocity profile skewing introduced errors. Our suggest that is optimal approach pressure-only CHD, well history, may even be more accurate than aorta.

Objectives: The aims of the study were to assess executive function performance in children and adolescents with primary secondary hypertension, investigate for associations central SBP ambulatory blood pressure. Methods: Forty-six pediatric patients hypertension because kidney diseases 46 underwent pressure monitoring, pulse wave analysis, assessment using Behavior Rating Inventory Executive Function. Results comparisons are presented as mean (SD). Analysis covariance was performed examine effect parameters cause. Results: Patients had higher T scores parent self-reported Metacognition Indices compared those (51.2 ± 8.9 vs. 47.6 7.5, P = 0.05 49.6 9.1 42.1 7.9, 0.001, respectively), but did not differ Regulation Index scores, well arterial z -score. -scores ( 0.05). Adjustment attenuated differences between groups. Central -score associated B 0.95, 95% CI 0.02–1.87), 1.14, 0.07–2.21), 1.48, 0.39–2.56), independent , age, sex, socioeconomic status, cause, antihypertensive treatment. Conclusion: associates youth could have complementary role identifying at risk adverse cognitive outcomes.

Observational studies show that serum uric acid levels associate with cardiometabolic risk factors and subclinical target organ damage. The aim of the present study is to investigate association traditional executive performance in children adolescents. Ninety-nine adolescents aged 5 18 years referred for assessment primary hypertension were included. Traditional factors, acid, ambulatory blood pressure parameters assessed. Executive was assessed by validated Behavior Rating Inventory Function parent questionnaire. Serum correlated parameters, daytime nighttime systolic pressure. High associated behavior regulation independently other or presence metabolic syndrome. Participants combined high presented lowest performance. Children had worse indices T scores estimated marginal means 56.47 (95% CI, 51.68–61.27) compared 49.22 45.91–52.53) those low ( P =0.023, adjusted age, sex, pressure, heart rate). Mediation analysis showed part effect on mediated In conclusion, we found a positive at hypertension. Extending these cross-sectional findings longitudinal may determine whether increases cognitive decline youth.
