Outer retinal band integrity strongly predicts late age-related macular degeneration (AMD). However, it is often assessed subjectively as "continuity" using inconsistent definitions. Alternatively, "curvature" of the outer bands a quantitative metric that correlates with AMD biomarkers and can screen for intermediate AMD. We evaluated prognostic ability pigment epithelium (RPE) ellipsoid zone (EZ) curvature against continuity, pigmentary abnormalities, reticular pseudodrusen, drusen volume.

Abstract This study aimed to explore the curvature distribution in posterior eye among school-aged children using distortion-corrected optical coherence tomography (OCT) images and its relationship with biometric variables choroidal vascular parameters. We conducted a prospective, observational, cross-sectional involving 88 aged 6 15 years. After comprehensive ocular examinations, widefield OCT volumes 68×68 degrees were captured utilizing high-speed, wide-field SS-OCT prototype system. The distortion of volume was geometricallycorrected, Gaussian maps derived from Bruch’s membrane segmentation lines. mean assessed across four square regions 19×19 each, where axial length (AL), refractive error, age, thickness (ChT) statistically analyzed. Additionally, entry site long ciliary artery (LPCA) into choroid same volume. Analysis 169 demonstrated bilateral symmetry patterns curvature. Mean exhibited asignificant correlation AL, ChT superior, macular, inferior regions. Conversely, temporal region showed weak negative correlation. Notably, local maximum point commonly observed for first time this study, suggesting potential reversal area. rationale observation remains unclear; however, proximity may suggest link.
